    Karl

I just downloaded a cool little scenario by Markus Eklund - "Invasion of Russia," or "Karl", based on the invasion of Russia by Charles XII, King of Sweden. Has anyone else played it? Is Markus still around?

Wasn't this posted a while ago under a 'scenario of the week' idea that never got off the ground?

Yeah, I played that some years ago and it's cool; I drew some mge Northern Wars Swedes and Russians about 4 years ago to use with it. Correction - I'm thinking of Casus Belli by Vegard Bjørketun. Same War, different scenario

I still have a link to it on Henrik's site if you haven't played it:

My trawl through the archives is paying off!
Just found this link to Casus Belli. The scenario looks very interesting. Amazing that after several years of searching the internet for CivII related games and graphics that gems like this are still lying undiscovered (by me!).

Just spent the morning matching up Casus Belli with Fairlines superb old 1700 Units. Planning to try and play it as a PBEM, hope it works!

I know someone will now tell me they have a copy of the updated Fairline units and I have wasted my morning, well

Markus Eklund was a very prolific scenario designer back in the day, and his works were always state-of-the-art. They also covered various topics, like the Age of Absolutism, Tamerlane, the rise of the Ottomans or the Vikings. I always enjoyed his scenarios a lot because they were full of great ideas. Sadly, however, it seems that he never got the recognition he deserved.

I will look up his work. I guess his scenarios can be found in one of the links at the top of the page. I really enjoyed finding Casus Belli and any other old classics out there deserve to be recognized too. I plan to add CB to the Scenario League Wiki now it is up and running again. I will try and add Markus' work too

Quick note to say that Casus Belli by Vegard Bjørketun has been added to the Scenario League:

    Casus Belli v2.5

As soon as I have had a chance to play Markus Eklund's scenarios I will upload them too

Ironic - the 1655 scenario takes place relatively right before my Sobieski scenario, while this scenario takes place right after (Sobieski died in 1696, and this takes place in 1700). Besides being fun, these scenarios might prove useful in helping determine places and such.
