    Survey follow-up: please help thanks

    Hello players!

We're doing game research on SimCity and Civilization, and we could use your
    help.

We posted a survey a couple of months ago on this site, and many of you were
kind enough to take it. Even better, you gave us great feedback -
particularly that the survey was way too long! We listened, we heard, and
we've created a MUCH shorter version of the survey. Thanks for your
    suggestions!

If you took our survey before, but you didn't finish it, we'd really like
you to take this new, shorter version. You will be reading two pieces of
PDF text and answering about thirty questions.

To participate, please send us an email with your name to
eggplantlab@gmail.com, and we'll send you the PDF file with the survey.
Please fill in your answers in the PDF form, save the resulting file, and
email it back to us - and don't hesitate to contact us if you have
    questions!

If you haven't yet participated, but you'd like to, feel free to drop us a
line as well; we'd love to build up a base of people who are willing to
    participate in future research.

Again: you can reach us at eggplantlab@gmail.com. Thanks for all your help!

    Zhou

Additionally, who are "we" and for what purpose is the survey being done?

I like to take surveys, but only if I know what it's for...

    Thank you guys very much!

We are a group of student researchers in Teachers College of Columbia University. Our purpose for this survey is to investigate whether playing games (especially well-made commercial games such as Civ and SimCity) can help with future learning in related fields (such as history and city planning) in more formal academic settings.

We had tried to "sell" our study on Apolyton a few months ago and got quite some responses (thank you again!). But we got the problem that our survey was too long and few people finished the whole survey. It's our mistake but we hope this time we could get more complete responses with our simplified version and get the old data complemented.

I'll post another bit of advice. If you want people to do charity work for you (and filling out a survey qualifies as much), then make it as easy as possible for them to do so. For example, post the link to the survey and make the survey on a web page so nothing needs to be emailed back and forth. If this survey was a weblink, I would have just clicked it and filled out and been done with it. But I didnt want to deal with emails so I didnt bother.

I might participate, except that I'm too lazy to open up my e-mail and e-mail you.

This is the same reason I haven't done it now... too busy with everything else (and too lazy) to bother with mails...
