Any interest here. The idea is to get some CTP PBEM'ers in a Civ4 Pbem.

Grandpa troll and I have both expressed some interest.

Only CTP PBEMers will get first serve, then if we cannot fill spots than others will be brought it.

Well, I've never played CTP, but I'll sign up for the "if you cannot fill the spots" option. I am at GMT-4 and have a very flexible schedule; I can play PBEM turns from approximately 10am-10pm every day of the week. I don't go on many vacations and I really like the idea of a long-term multiplayer civ game; unless I die or become homeless, I'm not going to quit in the middle.

I did play CTP "once" but it never grabbed me like the Civ's did so I never tried the mutiplayer.

If that counts, I'm in! As Grampa Troll can confirm, one of my other games is coming to an end and I need a new one

I just bought my copy of Civ 4

I finished just 1 huge map in Medium difficulty, I still need to learn how to play better... but as I have not longer my CTP CD game maybe I can start playing Civ 4.

I'm brand new in this game so take it easy with me, OK!

If you are planning some game count me in.

Ok, I am not the author of this thread, but will ask all who want to come forward and perhaps this week we can get it started.

Next weekend I will be in South Carolina with family plus recouping from more surgery this week to help repair damage from my auto accident.

Post here, but I simply ask if you want to play, please only join if your relatively sure you can be committed.

I have never ever had success with more than 4 people, preferably 3, but what the hey, Im game for anythiung once in PBEM.........

I prefer a bigger map with room to grow.

Post away one and all so we can decide what we want.

Please post in a one line reply in this thread if you want to play this game.

One we decide who is and who isnt we can go over settings.

Also, do we do Vanilla CIV IV or Warlords? (its up to you all, I have both)

If you all are interested, I can offer the use of a dedicated Windows 2003 server to run an instance of PitBoss on for this game. You wouldn't even have to trust me to run the game myself; I could give whoever is going to be in charge an account on the computer, and that person could log in remotely and set up the game.

I have never played a PitBoss-facilitated game before, but I gather that it lets people conduct a play-by-email game but switch to real-time multiplayer temporarily if everyone playing happens to be online at the same time.

I've only participated in one PBEM game before so I don't know how long they usually take, but it seems like this method of play could really speed up the game a great deal, even if everybody could only get online at the same time to play together for a couple hours a month.

Let me know if you'd be interested in this, and I can get things set up.

Additionally, the other PBEM game in which I'm involved seems to have petered out. There hasn't been a turn in weeks. So if we're going to have a game, can we all agree to either play on a reasonably regular basis or announce one's resignation so an AI or another player can take over?

DrDeke , PitBoss could be a good idea but only as long as we're able to backup the saves and migrate to another computer if needed otherwise months of play could be wasted in case of emergency.

The other, traditional way is to play using our mail clients to send the turns and a moderator to track the game's progress.

Backups would be no problem; the computer is backed up every night, and whoever is running the game could download a copy of the save to their own computer once in a while also. There is another computer available if something were to happen to this one.

Either PitBoss or the traditional method is fine with me though.
