Backup Multiplayer game

This thread is started for discussing all stuff regarding the backup-game we started last friday.

We can play every week before the start of the official diplogame HOTWV, I guess.
I can play from 20:00 UTC
then we can play up till 22.30 UTC when the HOTWV game starts. If we don't play for HOTWV (like coming friday) we can continue to play)

I guess this game won't really flow into a in dept diplo game. I suggest we just make this a multiplayer game with much diplomacy, not nessecarily with characters.

Your last sentence is rather confusing...

I prefer less out-game diplomacy and I dont mind to leave out role playing either.

I'll aim for 6 or 7am which will give us a bit of time.

It would be too exhausting to have two games with role playing so I agree for an in game diplo style but I prefer everyone posts a status report or maps or something for each session to spice it up a bit. I posted that culture war map for example.

I can play friday. Deity: if you can tell us what time you can play UTC (or compared to the normal HOTW session) then I think we can start at that time.

I suggest that we keep this game going for those sessions when HOTWV is skipped due to attendance. at the rate we were going we'll probably be done in 3-5 more sessions. since we're not playing HOTWV this week due to ozzy's absence then I say we run this game another round instead. same time, this friday, the 14th of april, at UTC 23:00, same start time as HOTWV.

for some reason I must say, it doesnt feel too much like a diplogame, not yet anyway. of course, I've been somewhat isolated and have had plenty of land to settle on all by my lonesome. though I'm gonna send deity a PM suggesting a transfer of goods and services after this post fear my power

I feel Cyber has very accurately named this thread; the backup game. I say we play it as a backup for HOTWV. RP is optional, since it is a little difficult to make posts for 4400 years of gametime. guess we were a little too effective

but I agree that we should aim for as much diplomacy as possible to keep the game from degrading into an arms race\conquest style game and add some flavour to it. game on people

goodness. who is Jorge? is that you in RL? and dont worry, talking to oneself\ones civ leader is perfectly normal for most of the people hanging at these forums.

Also. Just to say it. I feel that we should use SOME RP for the diplomatic language. I'm Gonna create a thread called Backup Game HoTB for Diplo purposes.

We aren't playing because people said they couldn't play, and most of those people are in this game. Ozzy said he could have got a sub, but you all decided that you couldn't play, and now you are playing this game.

Could someone just explain this situation to me?

cyber. sorry. but "quiet" = silent. the word you're looking for is "quite". not big difference in spelling and we probably all understand your meaning, but the stuck up retentive part of me jolts when I see it

and anyway. @ Capo, wasnt there someone else who couldnt play as well? Regardless, I dont think Ozzy would like someone else to run his civ in such a crucial fight as this is. If it goes badly he will likely feel that the sub screwed him over and that he could have done it better himself. Of course if Ozzy IS ok with letting a sub run his civ during wartime then lets play! Can Nolan\Condor join us?

And finally, I am at my parents house for easter and I honestly dont know if I can connect to Civ MP games here since I dont have access to their router. with our many connection problems I felt that it would be easier to just wait a week until I was back home when I could be sure to not add any further problems to the pot.

As this game is intended to be played at the same time as our regular one, if Ozzy reads this and accepts to having a sub and we can get everyone together before start in some.... 14ish hours, and provided that my home connection works, I'll gladly play our game. Its just that its a lot of puzzles that have to fit perfectly and I feel Murphy lurking in the shadows...

houston... we have a problem.

there seems to be some really nasty glitch going on.

when I try to log on to the gamespy lobby from civ it crashes. civ crashes. not nice xp crash. oldfashioned lockup freeze. Civ completely stops responding and I cant Ctrl-Alt-Del, nor can I hit the windows button or even Alt-F4. The cursor changes to regular cursor on some parts of the screen and I can move it around and the music works fine, aside from that... nothing works. at all.

I think the problem may be related to Norton or some other software. Another reason is that when I installed civ I installed it only on my personal account, not for all users. Bottom line; I might not be able to play the coming session. though I really want to.
