Sorry, no screenshot available but I got one of these too, on Highlands/Noble. (I wouldn't waste your time by lying. ) It was a little different in that there was a narrow land bridge to get out of the mountains; and Saladin planted a city right there and refused Open Borders. I just restarted the game.

It was just too early, I didn't have anything except a warrior. He had the city up, which gives something of a defense bonus even when it's a village and a couple units in there, I forget if they were warriors or what.

I may differ from some others on my philosophy for single-gamer games, but if I am going to invest the time, I want to derive some satisfaction, i.e. have a reasonable chance every turn to be successful. Playing at a handicap from the first minute, as I would have with a war that early, just doesn't make it for me.

Now that I think about it, I probably have that game saved at least from start, in the old game folder. Somebody would have to review for me how to create screenshots for me to post it, however.
