I too think they are very usefull, and will get them in time. For now I'll rely on you, Hueij and hopefully others, and as long as I raid inactives, I should be OK.

fine thanks. just erm building up my defences, just in case i wasn't visited by benign aliens. Still its started a flurry of activity in my government and military, and our counter espionage department has been congratulated on intercepting the probes.
I suppose i do need to build my own space amardas, just to keep the wolves of the door.
Another tip that i've picked up is that when you have more than one planet in your empire its a good idea to use your transport ships to constantly ferry the bulk of your resources between planets. This way they cant get stolen while your away

WARNING:

The queue from the fleet cannot be altered! They get build as you ordered them (well at least slot 1 and 2 cannot be swapped, don't know if you can swap lower slots)

I think i'm in the same universe as one of the apolyton guys - don't know if it was them scanning me or not though

I think that ferrying your resources around trick is usefull later in the game, when you actualy have lots of spare you can't use up. Still i have yet to build my first fleet or try to colonise another planet - so its a way off!

Edit: the moving resorces around trick has already been mentioned by germanos in the last thread

And i'm sure i've was just scanned by the one 'strong' rated player in my universe - i'm getting close to that 5000 point mark (build heavy laser build!!)

From now on, if you want me to send Espionage probes, give me specific targets (galaxy:system:Planet + player name, alliance tags, and color) or else I might "inadvertently" probe you or some other Apolytonian again, germanos...

Same goes for anyone else. I'd rather just concentrate on my industries and my defense. I have my eye on colonizing one of the unihabited systems (yes, completely devoid of players) that I've noticed, but it will take time to do so obviously and I still want to help y'all in other ways if I can. Like spying.

And i wont hold any mistaken probes against another civ(after all you dont know who i might be) - its what happens after the probe that is important.

I'm at lvl3 Armor right now; lvl4 takes 8k so maybe by the time I wake up. Build small laser #9 and 10 right now and will be bringing my Espionage probe total to 8 after that.

I've just sent an unescorted small cargo ship to those good people at 4:457:12, which was posted by Heuij in the last thread as being pretty fruitful for raiders. I wish I'd done more research, though, because it will take ages for the ship to get there and back.

Still i think the strongest civ i've detected in my game might have set the universe up to 'grow' his stock of weaker civs so that they can be harvested at regular intervals

You would probably be better of with Skanky's targets.
In general traveling within your own galaxy is faster (not always though)

The closer at home, the faster you are

2:85:7 and 2:77:10 are fat cows (I even hunt them even if they are 5 hours away)

You might even consider recalling the ship you just sent (will start its return flight immediately.

I just grabbed 10k from 2:85.

So how do you go about finding if there are any planets left in your universe? i assume when you do a galaxy 'scan' and you see the list of names - the spaces left unnamed are available to be colonised?(if so i have about 4-5 available slots i could fill)

And what are the steps you need to reach the point of being able to colonise(that anyone has worked out so far?).
