scenario loading problems

I have Civ 3 conquests... and before, back in the days of Civ 2, i would download alot of scenarios off the internet and play them. well, now with civ 3, i download them and everything, but when i try to load them they dont load. the load bar gets about 1/3 the way across and stops, i wait... and wait... and wait... untill i get fed up with it and say **** it and quit.... is this a problem with my game or doi need a patch or what?

If you don't have the latest patch for Conquests, definitely get it. Lots of bug fixes. Conquests 1.00 is broken to the point of unplayability.

Just how long do you wait? Some scenarios with large maps and/or a lot of starting cities and units may take a while to load, especially if you don't have a fast computer.

If the scenaro is one of the sizes you get by default, I would expect it to load in a reasonable time. If it is an extra large such as 362x362 or anything over 250x250, then it can take a long time to load.

Also I am not sure if all maps will load on all versions. IOW, some maps are for CivIII, others for PTW and still others for Conquest.

I know that save games of levels prior to 1.15 are not compatible with 1.22. So it could be that maps with editor version before the last editor fixes are not going to work.

well... a few of the senarios ive tried again and it turns out that i just wasn't patient enough

but still some other wont load... i think its becasue i dont have the latest version (i have conquests) im still using the version straight outta the box... but i have a dial-up connection so it will take a while to download it.... but i will...
