Okay Ive abandonded the old thread due to my posts becoming buried in lots of other posts.
I hope that it serves its usefullness and helps people to move forward to setting up other games which I may be interested in signing up for myself
Please do not post here about any other game settings you are interested in, this is now where I hope to get confirmations from those who want to play this game and to then set up a game accordingly.
There is most likely no other space in this game subject to players confirmation of there interest.
Here is the list of names that have posted to the old thread in order they posted.
1,ChrisiusMaximus (Confirmed)
2,Modo (confirmed)
3,smellymummy (Confirmed)
4,snoopy369
5,Beta (confirmed) Egypt
6,Conmcb25 ?? ( Not playing)
7,Earthworm (Confirmed) Carthage
8,1889 will let us know in a few days (confirmed)
9,Ljube-ljcvetko (confirmed)
10,OzzyKP
Ill hold this open for a few days so please post to confirm but remember that the top of the list still gets priority even if they confirm late
Ill update this periodically
OK well we certainly have more than enough interest here for two games, please also see snoopy's thread
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...threadid=125408
Obviously only 8 can join any one game so as I said its first come first served here, but snoopy's thread still has room for a few more and Im waiting on confirmation from Conmcb25 and 1889.
Thanks for all the input from everyone with ideas suggestion etc
What I want to now do is set up a game to play using the diplo faq idea as a basis for the game play but without the restriction of the no eliminations idea.
As stated by Ljube any leader who warmongered too intensley would likely suffer the wrath of the other nations which should balance out warmongering and probably stop eliminations from happening, I particulary like the idea of colonial posessions dicussed in the faq in that they can be used to buy back core lands from a victorious enemy after a war and I feel that wars should be limited to goals and not to wipe out a civ completlly.
But the only way to fully police this is for all other players to use diplomacy effectively so as to contain a renegade states aggression.
I will use a huge random map for early game discovery etc and plenty of room for colonies etc, with archipelogo and most land settings. Ive played maps like this a few times and it usually gives plenty of single civ sized island and plenty of naval choke points. Would setting a limit on cities be possible ?? is it possible to limit each civ to a specific number of cities, that would make colonies a neccesity in the later game and prevent domination and conquest which I want to do.
I agree after some thought that VP locations would be problematic but still only want the more builder style victory conditions on ie diplo culture and space.
I would need help with the editor if we do limit cities etc Im useless with it
So I need confirmation please of whose in and also please post your civ choices and your preferences for the map etc and the other things ive raised, then ill progress to setting up the game with some help from someone.
My original thread is here
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...0&pagenumber=1
Which is now full of different ideas and suggestions making it impossible for me to stay in control of the thread hence this new thread.
So far the only setting im insistent on is that the map be random!! all other map settings are open to discussion
I want this started by the weekend so please confirm asap and give you preferred settings civ choices.

Hi CM. I think you have contradicted yourself here. It is not first come first served. I think the original 8 should have sufficient time to confirm.Originally posted by ChrisiusMaximus

In.
I sent the PM's before this thread existed. It was supposed to get the game out of committee, but ok lets talk about it some more.
I got a few answer from the PM so I'll direct them back here.
Do you believe in Evil? The Nefarious Mr. Butts
The continuing saga of The Five Nations
A seductress, an evil priest, a young woman and The Barbarian King
These are my favorite settings but Smelly-yummy's 60%water archapelago makes a very nice map too. Large map is a deal breaker here so I guess that's what we got. Fine with me.Originally posted by Earthworm
Random environment settings.
Monarch
Random Barbarians
Large map, instead of huge?
Why not just use all victory conditions?
I'm GMT -7 or so and am still thinking about my civ choice.

I sent the e-mail, but will repeat it here. I'd like to play Babylon and give peace a chance.![]()
Chrisius, if you want to limit the number of cities, perhaps you should consider lowering the optimal city number for the world size. This would not forbid placing cities, but would make many of them extremely unproductive, so they would act (kind of) like colonies.
Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

I am in as long as limit the number of players as I abhor detest and decline games that go on a turn a month..
HOWEVER if all turns move at a decent rate I'll have a go at it
Im flexible so anyone can choose the civ they need me to be I just wanna play
Peace
Da Grandpa One
Did anyone have Ryan Dunn From Jackass FAME? He died in a fiery car crash speeding after being in a bar. And to think, everyone thought he would die doing something stupid-rah
i'll take a random civ
Great were almost ready. So far the turn order is:
Chrisius Maximus (GMT)
Grandpa Troll (GMT-4) no prefrence
Beta (GMT-5) Egypt
Smellymummy (GMT –7) Random
1889 (GMT-7)
Earthworm (GMT -8) Carthage
Ljube-ljcvetko (GMT +1)
Modo (GMT +1) Babylon
3 votes for large map (1889, Smelly, Worm)
3 votes for Random Barbs (1889, Smelly, Worm)
3 Votes for Monarch (1889, Worm)
Here is some fun reading from my favorite part of the Iron Civer Etiquette. The rest doesn’t really apply to our game.
1 Intertribal cooperation
1-1 Players shall not conspire to use irregularities of the game engine's turn sequence to gain extra use from units or resources. They shall not declare frivilous wars. Deals shall not be canceled on the same game turn as they are made unless due to a legitimate war. Resources intentionally removed from a trade network cannot be reconnected to that network on the same game turn. Players shall not make deals that include money they will not pay for.
1-2 Players shall not exchange in-game information until they are represented on each other's foreign advisor's screen. They shall not exchange graphic map information before both have knowledge of Navigation.
a) In diplomacy without an embassy between the Tribes, a player may only offer technology already known by their Tribe. They may not offer or ask for unknown techs.
b) Players shall not coordinate military action unless an alliance is formally declared in the foreign advisor's screen.
c) Players shall not make reference to specific distances or directions until both have knowledge of Map Making.
d) Players shall not make Mutual Protection Pacts or Trade Embargoes unless they are declared in the foreign advisor's screen.
2. Intertribal conflicts
2-1 Players shall not rename units or cities to disguise the content of unit stacks or diplomatic offers.
3-2 No player shall use the GoTo command's double movement to gain strategic advantage over an opponent.
4-2 Combat reporting;
Level 2> Active
A player making any attack must indicate to the defender that it has taken place and provide a brief summary of units involved, along with damage taken.
All information need only pass between the affected parties. Post it in the turn thread only if you wish to broadcast results to the world
