Ah, that's why your seafaring Tribes aren't getting proper starts- making or previewing the map in the editor messes up the trait-linked starting locations. :-(

Forgive my asking, Rommel2D - but what information do you have about that? You're not in this game.
That info shouldn't be made public, IMHO. What are "proper starts" anyway?

One of the trait benefits of Seafaring tribes is supposed to be a high liklihood of starting on a coast. Two players openly commented earlier in the thread that they didn't recieve coastal starts. Between this game, the C3C Tournament games set up by Octavian X, and another game I asked someone about, I think the coastal start has been properly assigned somewhere around 10% of the time. For this reason, I insisted on random maps for the Iron Civer Tournament. I have no idea if Firaxis will consider fixing this with a patch, but map makers and game modders should be aware of it if they're judging maps for 'balance', IMO.
Sorry for the brief threadjack, but its hard to discuss PBEM stuff with all the tracker threads cycling around here...

I had hoped the computer would assign the coastal startpoints to seafaring civs automatically, but I see that hasn't happened :-(

Hmm, I think we have to seriously start thinking about a restart and possibly finding a replacement 5th player - as it has now been nearly 14 days since Aidun sent the save to Makahlua.
Ouch, this game has really stalled.I would offer to be the replacement, but since this is the same map as the other games...
