    PROJECT/DESIGN: Altered Tilesets

    I have just finished upgrading the apolyton tile file to fix the ctp2 underwater graphic bugs.

    gtset555.zip

    gtset565.zip

    At the moment I need play testes to check it .

    Right down to the task I want to propose we use the source code to generate other underwater features onto a ctp2 random map.

    I had the idea for

    • Lava rifts
    • underwater mountain chains
    • Deeper pockets of water

    There was some opposition so I decided to have a poll

    I am thinking of starting lava rifts soon!!!!

    do you think lava rifts should be able to connect with normal rifts.

    Why not?

    There isn't so much difference really. Even in nature it is chaotic. best example the rift in the Atlantic. You have volcanic next to normal rifts as well as lava-rifts............

    rift next to rift, Yes
    rift next to lava, Yes
    rift next to Volcana, No
    Lava next to Volcana, Yes.

    For the rifts:

    rift-lava-rift again a valid combination, I would suggest.
    Same goes for rift-rift.

    Actually I was using:

    rift for normal rifts
    lava for lava filled rifts
    and Vulcano for Vulcano.

    But ridge would be OK for me as well, although I don't know the difference.

    I just look it up on the thesaurus for you hares a few words that mean the same hope fully you can get a clue from them.

    ridge = crest = Rim

    rift = hole= Crevice = Fissure

    yes if a rift is at the side of a volcano turn it to volcanic rift easy done.

    Will it also work with random map? I have no idea how it is implemented. And I think we still have problems with the map generation.

    we wait till some on "volunteers” to look it over then sneak in our code on the side. it's just a copy of the ridge code but directed to use out lava rift.

    I voted against my conscious and choose a but c was tempting allthough i dont think like banana milk shakes though. Now if you woulda said fill the sea with crates of bananas then well that would be a different story alltogether.

    I would prefer to see Big Mc's efforts go towards making more unit sprites or converting civ3 ones. Comparitively, the sea tiles are a minor issue. But he can do what he wants

    I voted yes as new variations to the tileset is, in the longer term, a good thing.
    Still maybe we need a poll to see if The Big Mc should work on this or new sprites just joking!

    what would the in-game advantages of these new underwater tiles be? better resources?(in which case we will need to let the AI know how to use them) or just for decoration?

    Looks nice.

    The only issue that I can see is that the lava isn't apparent in a couple of "bends". Is that not lava rift... or are lava rifts graphically identical to regular rifts, in this case?

    If they are, that might be a problem for determining where to put a city.
