Notes:
Note 1: BAID represents the highest CTP solo artificial intelligence level ever defeated -- BEST ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DEFEAT (without cheating, of course). This gives a rough indication of the player's level, and initially places players on the ladder somewhat fairly.
Note 2: Players appear on the ladder when they show an interest in being on the ladder -- first, in their BAID level and then in the order that they joined the CTP PBEM Challenge Ladder.
Note 3: Ladder positions change when a player lower on the ladder defeats a player higher on the ladder. When a lower ladder player defeats a higher ladder player:
1) the lower player takes over the ladder position of the higher player;
2) the higher player moves down one slot on the ladder;
3) the lower player attains the BAID level of the higher player (if different).
Note 4: There is no cheating or bug exploits allowed in CTP PBEM Challenges. Anyone caught cheating will be permanently banned from the CTP PBEM Challenge Ladder.
Note 5: You may challenge any player up to three slots above your current position. If the person challenged dodges the challenge continually with no good reason, then the one challenged may lose one or more positions on the ladder.
Note 6: You may also change positions on the ladder by defeating the "computer players" in a solo match at a difficulty level higher than you currently have.
Note 7: In PBEM Challenges, a player wins in the normal manner, but also wins if the player achieves a Power Graph (PG) rating four times their opponent's graph (4xPG), beyond the 20 turn mark, (except in the Dual-Duel format where it is recommended to use the standard victory conditions only -- see note 8).
Note 8: The Dual-Duel format makes for a fair game. It completely equalizes the starting positions -- Two games started simultaneously on the same randomized map with starting positions swapped. First one to win a game wins the match. Use this format if you wish. If you do use this dual-duel format, it is recommended that you do NOT use the 4XPG (mentioned in note 7 above), victory condition because one civilization may have a much better starting position.
Note 9: Any player not responding to a direct challenge within two weeks will be dropped from the ladder. For example, CheckMate has challenged three players, Milamber (who he is already playing and so doesn't count as a challenge), Taladas and Frozzy. If Taladas and Frozzy do not respond to CheckMate's challenge within two weeks from the date of his challenge here on this thread, then they will be dropped from the ladder. Note that a "response" doesn't mean acceptance of the challenge. The challenged player may have a good excuse. He or she must simply "respond" here on this thread. If the challenged player continually dodges the challenger(s) with excuses, then that challenged player may drop down the ladder depending upon the circumstances.
Note 10: Draws do not count for either a win or a loss for either player.
Note 11: (Ratified on 3-AUG-2004) Once a CTP PBEM Challenge Match is agreed upon by both players, then any absence from the game for over two weeks will result in a win for the present player and a loss for the absent player. This rule to take effect from 3-AUG-2004 forward, (i.e. this rule is not retroactive.)

It is always nice to post to a new thread, in a new year
Ok to all those with matches pending with me.
I have time this weekend as I have decided to live again.
I have dropped time from my work for my daughter and myself.
Way more for her, ;0) but I have also made time for myself in my own business, I sold off some not very user friendly accounts and kept the user friendly ones. Go figure
I figure my loses are my gains, and the existing ones will grow that much more.
Enough with my diatribe, I have (getting to the point) time this weekend to start all games.
No AI
land map as identical as I can, med map.
I would also like to see someone:0) Pleasemary up the exquisite no AI mod with a no AI and no ruins.
So in the mean time ruins unless we edit the maps are in. Wonders on, goods maximized for speed, land maximized for speed. Islands to make it interesting
Only two people here, regular PBEM have come close to beating me and or beat me…Quinn and Gavrushka in an island game…
Now of course one way or the other I want and grant an immediate rematch. On that note the rematch will be on my opponents terms. You have to make it interesting and fair
Pbem rules, no tricks, blah, blah, blah. I mean that sincerely, I do.
No farm under city etc….
Sound good adversaries? rodents, lackers, want-a-be CTP hopefuls…
Email me if this agrees with you….
You know Canucks rule at this game do you not?

quinns game 29 with geoffery is cancelled as geoff ran out of time and has droped all his games. i think he is off playing civ 3 somewhere?
I heard a loud voice, I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! It's rider was named Death, and hades was following close behind him. They were given power over one fourth of the earth to kill by the sword, famine and plague.
Revelation 6:8

Done. Thanks for the notice!Originally posted by MILAMBER

It was around the time..I..er..ugh.."retaliated" he attacked and killed a defenseless warrior..
I simply "Used" his 'Ho"..I mean settler..then left her face down..~gurgling~...I think she choked to death on Grandpa Troll's trunk!!

To each his own. Personally, I thought Civ3 was just a bit too ridiculous. In Civ3, you could have one thousand units stacked in one tile, but they could only attack and defend one at a time. Can you imagine a general in command of one thousand troops, telling his soldiers to "Charge up that hill -- BUT ONLY ONE AT A TIME NOW!"Originally posted by MILAMBER

Grandpa Troll, I'll wait until tomorrow then remove Mpteach from the Ladder if we don't hear from him by then.![]()

Yes..That TOO was my bone of contention with the civ3 series..Originally posted by quinns

I kinda wish, and its been awhile, but IIRC,CTP2 had larger stacks.I couldnt figure out why civ3 only let you do that??
Oh well..This is my favorite game been that way since the first day I played...even though sometimes I bite off more than I can chew with the Greats whom play![]()

I did not note I have a challenge from Blackice.
As you are 6 positions away I prefer to wait until you win vs checkmate or david42one in order to be more "fair" with rules accepted here.
If you apply for the rule where you challenge them and they don't respond then in 2 weeks we can play![]()

Hmm, I think the time has come to challenge you, berXpert. Since I'm currently no. 3 on the ladder, this shouldn't be a problem. Do you accept? If so, what are your preferences?
@quinns: Some updates for the ladder:
- chlg #11 with FlameFlash (a match from SuperLeague 1) ended last month; I won.
- chlg #19 with Frozzy (also from SL1) didn't make it beyond turn 11. I don't believe we will ever finish that one (Frozzy ???).
- chlg #40 with ricketyclik ended August 2003 (sorry for the delay); I won.

Ladder updated. Also, dropped mpteach and added back FlameFlash. Thanks for the updates.

Right, that is your prerogative, berXpert. Anyone may challenge anyone, as did blackice. But you are not obliged to accept any match from anyone more than three below you. However, hatschy has just challenged you. You are "obliged" to accept that challenge!Originally posted by berXpert
I did not note I have a challenge from Blackice.
As you are 6 positions away I prefer to wait until you win vs checkmate or david42one in order to be more "fair" with rules accepted here.
Should you decide to accept, it should be a good match!!

Where does that leave the status of our "dual-duel"?Originally posted by quinns

Did anyone have Ryan Dunn From Jackass FAME? He died in a fiery car crash speeding after being in a bar. And to think, everyone thought he would die doing something stupid-rah

I think I reported that one... Hang on, let me check...Originally posted by hatschy

Ah yes, here it is, and I'm pretty sure a loss was recorded for me against it at the time, so you you'd better remove that 13th loss from my name Quinns![]()

Yes you reported in earlier, ricketyclik, I just never posted it to the ladder. My fault there. Hatschy was right to report it again, and the ladder is right as it stands now. Count your wins and losses by going to the top post and then hitting ctrl-f and finding "ricketyclik".Originally posted by ricketyclik

Unfortunately, the match is cancelled, with results similar to a draw (that is -- no change to the standings). Unless you can contact mpteach and get him to concede the match on this thread, you can't get a win. The only way to prevent this in the future is to try to find opponents that you know will finish the match, (or at least concede the match if they can't finish it, for whatever reason.)Originally posted by Grandpa Troll

That was the reason when I played Dimytes, I saw he had on the PG blew so far ahead on tech and settlers..I conceded!Originally posted by quinns

I am dissapointed and thus shall cross him off the list to play.
This sucks and yet another reason a person should be rewarded a win if another simply "Vanishes"..or puts game on hold for apparanetly no reason..![]()
No problemos...

I accept hatschy challenge.
Standar settings could be fine but I can play what ever settings you like, just to make a fair game I can accept / suggest a restart if turn 0 is realy awful.
If you don't mind just send turn 0 to: berXpert at yahoo.com.mx
I like to play as Mexicans![]()
