    Ultra Elite Adamantium slingers with Eldritch and Flame Blade

    So...does anything beat this??

    I am playing a game now (on normal - my first game in 7 years) and I am practically walking over the opponents with these dudes

    I am rediscovering how much fun MoM was - and how much I would like to see a sequel

    Off the top of my head:
    warlocks/magicians
    flame strike
    disenchant area
    any good melee units with guardian wind

    Slingers, even without all the enchantments, are truly imbalanced, since the AI loves to hunker down behind walls and just sit there while you kill them from range.

    MoM is a great game; one of the things that makes it great is that there is a counter for everything (even if the AI is too brain-dead to come up with it).

    Yeah...those will beat the slingers. I still think they are the most cool unit of the game, though.

    I think even guardian wind cannot protect from champion&adamantium slingers with lionheart&holyweapon... IIRC
    I'm not a complete idiot: some parts are still missing.

    I would be very surprised. Guardian wind gives 50 shields against missiles, which should block 15 hits on average. The slingers have a ranged attack of 10 by my calculations, so they'd have to count on some very bad defensive rolls to do any damage. Of course, they'd also have a 9 melee attack with massive to-hit bonuses, 6 hitpoints x 8 figures, and decent defense, so they would have no problem killing most enemies in melee.

    On the other hand, I prefer to end my games long before I can research very rare spells. The AIs always out-research me, so I'd expect to face armageddon, great wasting, and similar annoying spells.

    I was a huge ICSer in Civ, but I've become convinced that building cities is not very efficient in MoM (particularly when playing a race whose settlers cost 150 or 180 shields!). While I'm building cities, the AIs are building lots more cities and running their mana bars to the right edge of the screen on the F5 window.

    Thats when I give My Ultra Elite Adamantium Slingers Resist Elements and spell lock. In the first MOM comparison game Sss'ra was giving my slingers hell with magicians until I started giving them Resist Elements. a stack of 5 Elite adamantium slingers with resist elements can take out 9 magicians even while getting flame striked once or twice.

    Disenchant Area was a real b**ch later on, though, but spell lock would have done it.

    Add Torin's leadership and Archangel bonus to the slingers :P Throw in warlord & crusade to make them champions, holy weapon (or holy arms), and bless them with High Prayer and probably an ordinary prayer too and the guardian wind will not be a problem anymore ...

    i don't believe in spelling up normal units. why spell up an entire stack if one unit can't get the job done?

    (except of course nice global enchants that affect all units for 1 cast.)

    my fav will always be:
    warrax
    24-29 attack (through eq/levels usually)
    invis
    flying

    anything else on him is pure gravy, such as spell lock. once you pass 24 attack, you can pierce any defense, even magic immune. if you put invis/flying on his eq instead of on a spell, nothing can hurt him.

    what really rocks is that any + to attack also affects his ranged attack, such as giant strength, + from eq, etc.

    i'm trying to find a way to get him to break 30/attack, but even 27 is indefensible.

    Except unit with true sight and spell-combo web&cracks call...

    but If you also have an item with wraithform, then even web&cracks call won't be able to hurt...
