What benefits do people get from civ groups?
I'm a member of one and they've never contacted me![]()

Creator of the Civ3MultiTool

They aren't supposed to contact you.
Civgroups is a kind of identification so when one person see you he/she will know in what places he/she will find some of your posts....
..... perhaps we need and "Off Topic" Civ Group

I am sure the Civgroups potentially are a useful feature. However some people just collect them like stamps or something, which doesn't help. Also the lists are never updated, so that some people on them are not active.

I'm with my civgroups in spirit even if not in person.
Capitalisation - The difference between helping your uncle Jack off a horse, and helping your uncle jack off a horse
Grammar - The difference between knowing your $hit, and knowing you're $hit.
Spelling - The difference between being literate, and being Dinner.

I tried to be part of some civgroups, but I just didn't have time for it, so I gave up. It's interesting, but only if you actually participate of said groups. Otherwise, it's just a Armed Forces thing, sort of a "hey, look how many medals I got in my chest!" thing.![]()
'Yep, I've been drinking again.'
What's a civgroup and what is its function?
"We may be in a hallucination here, but that's no excuse for being delusional!." K.S. Robinson, 'The Years Of Rice And Salt.'

It's the fruit salad you see under many posters' name etc.
"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work...After eight years of this Administration, we have just as much unemployment as when we started... And an enormous debt to boot!" — Henry Morgenthau, Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Treasury secretary, 1941.

I still don't see the relevance of the feature. I mean some Civ Groups are self-explanatory. But others like "Latin Lovers" with the Bull icon![]()

I wouldn't have a clue where to find the forum for that particular civgroup.
The script needs to be updated so that we can click on an icon and be taken not to a list of members for that civgroup, but to the forum for that civ group![]()

I can see the use of the icons to see who plays multiplayer in games you play so you can set matches up, but some people just go overboard with these civgroups.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).
Most of these seemingly useless civgroups are teams of multiplayer democracy games, namely in SMAC and Civ3. You have to be a group member to access the private forum of the particular team. So even if the link was there, you couldn't open the forum, since you aren't a member.Originally posted by Asmodean

Can we get the people who prance around with the Civgroups labels but haven't posted in the relevant forum for ages booted out? Or at least mildly tortured?![]()
I think I have ONE civgroup icon that needs removing, but I always mean to use it. Sorry to the cake-or-death people

Civgroups..?
I think I joined one, but haven't used it for anything... if I still have it I think it's time to remove it
EDIT:
I see I have joined one, but I can't seem to find the "Get-the-hell-out-of-this-Civgroup-now" button![]()
This space is empty... or is it?

Go to he forum related to the civ group. In the middle, above the forums, you will see some text that says something like "civ group", it shows the number of members, and right below that it says either Join or Leave depending on whether you are a member or not.Originally posted by ADG
