    Windows Snapshot Broken?

I've been trying to run the latest MS Windows version of FreeCIV without much success. The civserver simply hangs up and fails to respond to anything.

    Anyone else experience this?

How do I ask the development team to look at this?

    Cheers!

The problem is known and a fix is being worked on.

The bug should be fixed in the latest snapshots.

Also, you can now try a new version of the GTK2 client for Windows (if you have Windows 2000 or XP) here:

    ftp://upload.freeciv.org/freeciv/inc...2003-11-28.exe

And a new build for 1.14.1-beta4 (compatible with 1.14.0) is here:

    ftp://upload.freeciv.org/freeciv/inc...14.1-beta4.exe

Please try it out and give feedback!

When trying the "1.14.1-beta4 (compatible with 1.14.0)" version, the client will not run. It gives an error: "The dynamic link library libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll could not be found in specified path".

Ditto for the GTK2 client version.

However, the fact that I run NT and W95 (on different machines) probably has something to do with this.

W/ Latest GTK2 on WinXP, civclient won't start:
    Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point libiconv_set_relocation_prefix could not be located in the dynamic link library iconv.dll.

I uploaded a new version with missing DLLs a few days ago. If you are having trouble, see if this fixes the problem.

Also try deleting the iconv.dll file if you get problems with libiconv. Some people say that this solves such problems for them.

That's it. Killed iconv.dll and it works. Thanks.
