  • Kansas Republicans Running Scared

and I'm sick and tired of the robo-calls... We never had to put up with this BS before, but since the Guv aint too popular and Sen Roberts is looking like a mean old fool there's a chance they could lose. So they harass us day and night and think that'll inspire me to vote for them. I'm even getting calls from the NRA and AARP.

So, do people with cell phones get these calls or are land lines the primary means of invading our homes and privacy?

I kinda like politics so I can only imagine how pissed off the apolitical are, I'd just disconnect the phones if I wasn't worried about missing an important call.

Oh, a word of advice - NEVER give $$$ to a charity over the phone. I made that mistake and got several months of calls for more $$$ in spite of repeated requests to stop calling. And I started getting calls from other charities. The election will put an end to these bastards harassing people, but the charities are always there.

In my experience, Republicans run on fear. And pretty effectively too.
“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Pretty sure everybody was accusing everyone else of killing grandma during the health care reform debate, between "death panels" and "cutting medicare" and all that other stuff.

Yeah, too bad about the Grand Tax Cut Paradise Thing in Kansas. It must be pretty bad to actually give the Dems a chance there.

So, do people with cell phones get these calls or are land lines the primary means of invading our homes and privacy?
In my experience, mobile phones have been relatively safe from political robocalls until this year, but I'm starting to get them. But just a few. The good news is, it's candidates, not PACs and polls (so far). And today, when I listened to the end, I got an opportunity to "press 5 to be taken off this call list." When I did so, I got an apology, an invitation to the candidate's website, and an assurance it wouldn't happen again. That never happens on the incessant landline calls we get.

It actually made me consider voting for the guy, even though he's clearly in the NRA's pocket. But hey, I'm not a single-issue voter.

No, that was Republicans with their claims about secret death panels. It was all made up nonsense but as always the Republican faithful were stupid enough to believe it just like they believe the current nonsense of "OMG!YOU ARE ALL GOING TO DIE OF EBOLA AND IT IS THAT BLACK GUY'S FAULT!!!!!!"

Wasn't Glen Beck the only "republican" to ever refer, even obliquely, to Obama's race? What indication is there that any significant numbers of republican candidates care about race at all, much less insert a public figure's race into their campaigning?

Wasn't that at the point where the pubs were talking about a voucher scheme which would have ****ed all those seniors on Medicare? Seems like a pretty accurate advert.

Yet we never saw an ad where grandma shoves the grandkids of the cliff symbolizing the unsustainability of Boomer-heavy Medicare rolls. Anyway the point here wasn't to debate the accuracy of Mediscare ads (I can certainly do that if you want) but to further the OIAW meme.
