  • Request - I need a file from Planescape: Torment

Well, I'm finally getting around to playing Torment. I actually started once before, years ago, but life got in the way and I never finished. Now I'm going back to older titles that I never got around to playing, and that can be run on my not-that-great laptop (P4, 256 MB ram, Intel graphics) so I can play in the living room while socializing with the wife instead of sequestered in the office on my nice powerful PC.

To minimize cd-switching (and because my dvd drive is crapping out) I want to put the contents of all 4 cds on my hard drive (copying them to my desktop and transferring to my laptop via the network.)

I was doing this when I discovered some uncleanable schmutz on disc 4 that is preventing me from reading a file. I don't know how critical the file is (movies4.bif), but I would like to have all of them to maximize my enjoyment of what many call the best rpg ever.

So, my appeal - can anyone who still has their copy of Torment send me the file? It's a big one - 125 MB - so there may be difficulties. If it's too meaty for email, uploading it is possible. And if that fails, if anyone will just burn the damn thing to a cd and mail it to me I'll reimburse you (Paypal, check, whatever.)

Yeah, I could go out and get a new copy, but I just moved and I don't feel like spending $15 if I don't have to.

    Thanks!

Change one letter of "torment" and you have your answer.

I have no idea. I played PS:T with all the disk switching. I dont remember it as being as bad as BG1, but its been awhile.

Oh. A bit of a point? But then that shouldnt have been left out? Anyway, I never use such things, so it went right over my head.

You shouldn't knock it - you like digging out old games and 'such things' can help a lot with rare titles.

The low resolution can be a pain by now. I've got the game, so ask me in IRC if you need any help with the files. Note that I'm AFK 90% of the time I'm in #apolyton.

well if im ever in specific pursuit of an old game, that cant be found anywhere for love or money, or that is available used at prices that are only enriching some lucky collector with no evidence that theres going to be a rerelease (note that for one of the more notorious cases, SMAX, it finally was rereleased - but then Firaxis seems smarter than a lot of game cos) I might consider such things. But it simply hasnt come up yet.

Given the two new PCs in the house, and being burnt on Colonization, im not looking for super old games anyway.

Seeing as this hasn't been posted on for about six years, I know this is a LONG stretch to check but I was wondering if anyone could email me the AR3017.cbf file for this game. I can get EVERY other file from my disc but NOT this one. ARG. Anyways, email is gbsedillo at yahoo dot com. Please AND thank you folks!
