        Alinestra ,

id say poor theology doesn't mix well with your logic .. good theology would support it.

I completely agree with your perplexed feelings regards to how some actions can be deemed against gods plan (if he's a perfect being, then not much of a plan is it ???)

but lets not fester on a debate about predestination (which would be a bit of a threadjack),.

I personally find the saying rather silly, if we assume the existance of God (otherwise the saying really is meaningless - and im sure many would support that angle) , then I guess it boils down to what you believe about that God, if he is not perfect, then why not play god .. if God is perfect, then why concern ourselves about it .. not much of a god, if he left a loaded gun (whatever science or practace that people make this accusation against) lying around.

but who knows, what if God intended on us evolving into Gods ???? now thats a thought.

The only sensible conclusion is (if you believe in a perfect God) is that an inperfect being, can never play God, and therefore this saying is useless.

The real presumption is that human beings believe that they are somehow privy to God's plan and act in extreme righteousness accordingly. As the saying goes, If God wants me to do a thing, let him tell me, not you.

not much of a god, if he left a loaded gun (whatever science or practace that people make this accusation against) lying around.
Indeed. First, create imperfect beings, surround them with pitfalls and dangers and then give each group of people different instructions. Not exactly a recipe for success.

but who knows, what if God intended on us evolving into Gods ???? now thats a thought.
This is a Mormon belief. The extremely good get to rule over their own universe in the afterlife with their 27 wives.

The only sensible conclusion is (if you believe in a perfect God) is that an inperfect being, can never play God, and therefore this saying is useless.
If you don't assume perfection in you god, then the saying is perfectly valid.

Theology aside, there are good scientific reasons for refusing to allow cloning. At this point we don't have a perfect understanding of it or how it affects the child. The cloned sheep we made aged 6 times fast as normal. Until we are certain that cloning procedures are safe and won't create any complications or problems for the cloned child, the procedure must be forbidden.

Id go along with much of what you have said
gunkulator .. us mortals go though life only looking backwards in time, unable to see the future, so a plan to us, is simply not visible until its happened.

If we assume that God is not perfect, then it would make sense, but wouldn't be a very good argument, as you could retort .. "Who is God, to play God ? "

I wonder how many people believe God is not perfect ??

The distinction is supposed to be that genetic engineering directly tinkers with the basic mechanisms of life as opposed to the encouragement of different traits that is dog breeding. Medicine is just using what you're given and has nothing to do with it. The distinction makes perfect sense to a morally non-relativistic culture. The reason it seems silly to most of us is just that the modern method of determining right and wrong is to pick what you want to be true and assume it is truth. Once morality becomes such a field of individual preferences, any definitive statement of good and evil is by nature regarded as wrong. You might say that the spoken name of evil is the only remaining societal evil. Of course you disagree with it.

                          black and white sucked ass.

The damn good reviews threw me, and I bought the damn game.

never trust reviews. It's to the point now, I won't buy a game, unless I play it first.
