Okaysoft still has it - priced at 50€ - they just are no longer allowed to advertise imported games to minors (due to a new youth protection act all imported games (all unrated games in fact) are marked "adults only"). You need a adult Login to access the import area of okaysoft from now on.

    Ha,

In 6 years of being online, your the only other person i met from Leeds Freddie.

EB in Leeds centre say they wont get it for weeks yet, you best just downloading it.

I know what you mean. I'm creditcardless and have to depend on Amazon.co.uk as well. I'm thinking, though, of begging my local (and only) game shop to order it for me. Either that, or actually break down and get a credit card. Bad memories of previous cards hold me back though.

okaysoft don't seem to have it listed any more. You're right that they did about a week ago as I remember looking.

Hopefully someone at strategy-first will give Amazon.co.uk a call. I need a credit card before I can buy it anywhere else

www.okaysoft.de has GalCiv available in germany (well they did last time I looked anyway).

I bought it online though as the manual really isnt worth it, and I got it through 'other means' first to test if its worth the purchase (MoO3 made me cautious). So no more big download for me, all I needed from Stardock was the code and the patches/bonus pack...

    Ouch! £40!

I hardly ever spend over £20 normally. My 3 most expensive purchases ever were £22 for Baldurs Gate2, £25 for Arcanum and £28 for Neverwinter.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be seeing Galciv in any game shops in Leeds since it only has a small distribution company and even EA or IG games take a month longer to release over here.

Maybe I'll have to bite the bullet. I do really like the sound of this game. I suppose £40 isn't that much, it's just the principle of spending that much on a game.

At least I know that my £40 is going to an independent distributor and excellent customer-friendly developers, and not a bunch of corporate whores like Infogrammes and brain-dead developers like Quicksilver (I could make a more fun game than them and I can only program in BASIC!).

Hmmm, the stardock CD comes out at £35 when you convert from dollars, assuming my credit card doesn't use some rip-off commisioned exchange rate (which I expect it will). Time to read the small print.

Do you know of any similar companies in Germany that handle imports? If not just download it from Stardock's site.

GalCiv listed for sale in the UK

It looks as though it is now available from www.strategic-plus.co.uk. Price is £39.99

I would guess from the cost and the fact that there isn't a release date mentioned that this is the US version rather than UK distribution.
