Thanks for the fast replies!
When I tried the XP compatability patch it did really bad things to my sound- the sound fx were quiet, and the speech was pretty much silent. I tried readjusting the mix in the audio/video area, but it didn't help.
It also didn't help us connect. I thought the XP patch was to help the game run in XP, but its also to help connect to Macs running SMAC?Leave a comment:

SMAC multiplayer problem
Has anyone ever played a MP game with someone on a Mac? I couldn't get them to connect. Neither of us have firewalls up, but when I tried the TCP option it just said that it couldn't connect. He has the v1.5 running, I'm on 4.0. Is this a problem? If so, where can I get a patch the equivalent of 1.5 for windows?
