Josh McCown is, I believe, waiting for a call... Oops, never mind. Texans got him....

"Dallas Cowboys to start Garrett Gilbert or Cooper Rush at QB against Pittsburgh Steelers"

And they're each like Chip and Dale.
    "After you."
"No, no. I insist. After you."

They're just a competent QB away from the playoffs. I see it as low-cost, low-risk, high upside. And I imagine the fans are desperate enough to put up with it so the PR hit would be minimal.
    IMHO.
    This is an easy one.
They want to keep their fan base.
    We hate the sonofa*****.

Jerry Jones quickly became a meme during the Cowboys-Eagles 'SNF' game

The Eagles were ahaead 7-6 lead late in the second quarter when NBC caught this picture of Jones

    And the memes piled on
"I'm getting too old for this s****"
"Jerry Jones just looked at the early vote numbers for Texas"
"when you pass on DK Metcalf to draft JJ Arcega-Whitside"
"The game is so boring, he is drinking coffee to stay awake"
"Jerry about to to try to sign his grandson off the high school squad"
"Me thinking of Dougs play calling this half"

Got to see him, post-injury, in Wrigley Field, 1969, sharing backfield duties with Brian Piccolo. He still put up over 100 yards rushing with 2 TDs.

RIP to one of the true greats.

R.I.P. Gale Sayers. One of the best RB's of all time who had his career cut short. I was at the six touchdown game and also the one where he got injured. He was so much fun to watch!

If Redskins are going to change, I like this

"Jonathan Nez, who is the Navajo Nation president, offered up a suggestion: the "Washington Code Talkers."

Looks like (per Bob Costas) they are going with Washington Red Tails.

Actually, a pretty solid choice, pro-military and pro-Black, paying tribute to WW2 airmen from Tuskegee Institute.

Not bad. Lots of fertile ground here. Other suggestions: Washington Corruption; Washington Swamp Monsters; Washington Lobbyists.

All suitably scary and intimidating to their opponents...

Pat Mahomes, half a billion for 10 more years in KC. Biggest sports contract ever -- and it's far from a done deal that the NFL will actually play this year.

    Amazing.

It's a slap in the face to people of color. Big daddy billionaires will make everything OK for you poor black folk, but only with an incentive. Pathetic.

Saw Louis Riddick (ex-player, ex-NFL exec, current ESPN reporter) last night and he was not happy:

Louis Riddick expresses his disappointment in the NFL's proposal to offer draft picks for minority hiring.

Mike Wilbon basically echoed that, saying: "What is this, 1947? Jackie Robinson was 73 years ago."

Everyone knows the Rooney Rule is a joke, but this condescending BS is not how to fix it. Better to just straight-up admit that the teams are run by racist billionaires who got where they are through white privilege and most of them literally can't conceive of any other way to operate.
