OK, it's over - 3 weeks before the Super Bowl. Just saw this on my feed:
Browns hired Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski as head coach.
Cleveland - fired Freddie Kitchens - hired Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski
Carolina - fired Ron Rivera - hired Baylor coach Matt Ruhle to a 7-year deal
Washington - fired Jay Gruden in Oct.; Bill Callahan was "interim" HC - hired Ron Rivera
NY Giants - fired Pat Shurmur - hired Joe Judge, New England WR coach/special teams coordinator
Dallas - fired Jason Garrett - hired ex-GB head coach Mike McCarthy

So (I believe) all 32 teams now have a head coach.

Interesting. I've heard the speculation and both are free agents, but somehow I doubt it.

New England has no viable options, and it's hard to imagine Brady playing elsewhere.
And Brees has embraced New Orleans - very active around town, and lives there year-round.

I think Brady and Brees will move on, ala Favre and Manning.

Those leftovers include the staffs of all the best teams in the NFL...

What a nice way to say that Cleveland can now sort through the leftovers.

Wow, that was fast. Apparently Cleveland can take their time, as everyone else has hired their new head coach in the first week of the new year.

Carolina - fired Ron Rivera a few weeks ago - hired Baylor coach Matt Ruhle to a 7-year deal
Cleveland - fired Freddie Kitchens last night - No decision yet. Reportedly will hire head coach before a GM. Seems to be the new trend...
Washington - fired Jay Gruden in Oct.; Bill Callahan was "interim" HC - hired Ron Rivera
NY Giants - fired Pat Shurmur - hired Joe Judge (New England WR coach and special team coordinator)
Dallas - fired Jason Garrett, then immediately hired ex-GB head coach Mike McCarthy after he took a year off

I saw a spectacular list yesterday on ESPN, in a story about the Redskins opening probably going to Ron Rivera.

Here's a list of recently successful NFL head coaching hires:

Matt LeFleur, Green Bay - won NFC Central
Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco - won NFC North
Sean McVay, LA Rams - won NFC in 2018

The thing that's amazing about that list is that, about 10 years ago, they were all on the Redskins staff together (under Mike Shanahan).

Washington literally had 3 of today's top young head coaching talent under contract, all at the same time. And let them all walk away.

Bruce Allen was fired. I'm mildly surprised.

As long as Jerry is drawing breath, he will remain capable of screwing up his franchise, again and again. Sometimes he seems determined to prove it.
It's reached the point where he is slowly turning into Al Davis V2.0, and no one seems to have the stones to tell him that he's a big part of the problem.

But he's the owner. WTF can you do?

I wish Jerry would let Stephen take over G.M.

    NFL Black Monday 2019

OK, so the annual firing day for coaches is a little quieter than usual this year. So far:

Carolina - fired Ron Rivera a few weeks ago
Cleveland - fired Freddie Kitchens last night
Washington - fired Jay Gruden in Oct.; Bill Callahan is "interim"
NY Giants - fired Pat Shurmur
Dallas - expected to "move on" from Jason Garrett, probably later today

Working...
