And it was at home, on Senior Day. Very bizarre.

But all my Northwestern alumni friends are sure loving it.

I see a glimmer of a chance that Stanford could actually make the CFP. They were ranked at a surprisingly high #11 by the committee last week.

So here's all that has to happen: Stanford clobbers Notre Dame next week and then pounds the Pac-12 South champ in the conference championship. Whether that's USC or UCLA, Stanford will have beaten them before. I guess UCLA would have the stronger resume by that point. Then, some of these things need to happen:

      • Michigan State loses to Penn State next week and to Iowa in the B1GCG (assuming tOSU losing to Michigan) - Low odds on this, 10% maybe
      • Ohio State loses to Michigan (50% chance) OR they beat Michigan but lose the B1GCG to 1-loss Iowa (10%)
      • Iowa loses to Nebraska but then beats MSU or tOSU as noted above - About 10%.
      • Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma = 40% chance
      • TCU beats Baylor - Maybe 30% chance, given TCU's wounds
      • Florida loses to Florida State - 80% chance of this, given how abysmal the Gators looked yesterday
      • Clemson and/or Alabama drop one of their regular-season games left AND lose their conference CG - 2% chance of that happening to either, at best, given the opponents they'll face.

Not likely by a long shot, but stranger things have happened. Especially given the CFPC's appallingly inexplicable position-shifting of teams right before the playoffs last year...

      Top Ten:
      1. Alabama
      2. Clemson
      3. Iowa
      4. Oklahoma
      5. Michigan State
      6. Baylor
      7. Stanford
      8. Notre Dame
      9. Ohio State
      10. Oklahoma State

      Pac:
      1. Stanford
      2. Oregon
      3. Washington State
      4. UCLA
      5. Utah
      6. USC
      7. Arizona State
      8. Cal
      9. Washington
      10. Arizona
      11. Colorado
      12. Oregon State

Can't say I'm a fan of the committee's final rankings. An Alabama v. OU rematch in the Cotton Bowl would have been so much better than watching the Tide curbstomp Michigan State.

Stanford v. Iowa in the Rose Bowl?

But the Oregon/TCU Alamo Bowl match up is exciting! Hoping for lots of offensive fireworks. Lord knows the Ducks won't have much in the way of defensive pizzazz...

I'm just pissed the games are going to be on 12/31 instead of New Years Day.
Last year, New Years Day WAS GREAT. We could watch meaningful games. It was the first time in a LONG time that I was excited about watching some CF on NYD.
Now, thanks to rolling over and playing dead to the Big Bowls, the real games will be on the day before... with many people having to work, and wanting to go out to parties.
Yeah, I know it's all about the money (but what isn't)... I hope the ratings are much lower than last year, and maybe the networks and advertisers will put this crap to an end.
Sure, the ratings will be excellent, but I think they would be much better on NYD.

What is "Battlefrog"? It's the Battlefrog Fiesta Bowl. Can we get Brent Musberger to say "This is for all the frog legs" if the game comes down to the final play?

I agree with Ming, put these playoff games on NYD where they belong. Make the day games meaningful once again.

Yea, especially with NYD on a Friday, I was looking forward to catching at least one of the games. Now, they'll be at 10pm and 2am on NYE #bummer

If one, or both, semi-finals ends in an ass kicking, in either direction, will you still hold NYD bowls so lightly?

TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer Thursday in San Antonio.

TCU QB Boykin arrested for hitting a cop after being involved in a bar fight.

                        Uh-oh!

                        1. Will Patterson have the integrity to boot him and any other TCU players involved?
                        2. Will Oregon then lose by 20 points to a team relying on a back up QB again?

                        Interesting!

And congrats to Donegeal for Wisconsin's win over USC! Everyone likes to see the Trojans lose.

Welp TCU suspended Boykin and some other player. Oregon is doomed.
