I'm not sold on either of them being anything but servicable QBs in the NFL. May be a good year to trade that top pick and we know Philly would pay through the nose.

I figured Lovie's commitment to "character" players was the only thing casting doubt.
Jameis has, um, history, and Marcus seems to be the All-American Boy.

Interesting that Lovie let his preference leak. He's usually extremely tight-lipped about the draft.

I figured it was a no brainer. Even if he sucks, he'll draw in fans.

    Pre-draft news:

ESPN Bucs reporter Pat Yasinskas has "heard" that coach Lovie Smith prefers Florida State QB Jameis Winston over Oregon QB Marcus Mariota.
NFL Network's Mike Mayock and the insufferable Mel Kiper Jr. are also both on record picking Winston over Mariota at #1 overall for Tampa Bay.

Dude, the Bears just had the two worst defensive years in team history. They can hardly do worse.

Bears are either going to go Defensive Line or trade down. Are they really going to try a 3-4 next season without bringing in a top quality 3-4 lineman?

First page search results for "NFL mock draft 2015" show that I'm likely wrong. The consensus among draft wonks is safety Landon Collins of Alabama.

Waltercamp.com -- Chicago Bears: Dante Fowler, DE/OLB, Florida
Bleacher Report -- Chicago Bears: Landon Collins, S, Alabama
NFL.com/Bucky Brooks -- Chicago Bears: Shaq Thompson, OLB, Washington
NFL.com/Daniel Jeremiah -- Chicago Bears: Shane Ray, DE, Missouri
Draftsite.com -- Chicago Bears: Landon Collins S Alabama
DraftCountdown.com -- Chicago Bears: Landon Collins, S, Alabama

I believe they will go defense but they want the best player on board so if the offensive player is rated higher they will take him, according to all reports.

The Bears are switching to a 3-4, so they will be drafting a defensive front-7 guy (DT, OLB are most likely) at #7 overall.

I predict that the Redskins will use the number 5 pick to select a superficially promising but ultimately catastrophically bad failure. Oh wait, I forgot, we've got a personnel guy now.

Do we want to address a specific need or just get the best player?
