The other league wasn't set up when I first signed up. I didn't know whether it would be.

Well... sorry to mess you up since you just found your 14, but I think I'm gonna switch to the team D (they are uneven now anyhow).
What is the info on the other league anyhow?
Nm, found it:

IDP League is complete with 14 members.
Now let's finalize settings, clarify draft rules and set the draft order.
I'm adjusting the defensive players to DL, LB, LB, DB, DB. Considering adding one bench slot to accommodate. Will post proposed final settings shortly.Last edited by -Jrabbit; August 6, 2009, 13:46.

More D players = lower average points per D player.
Avg. pts per defender is about 8/game. LB is the most productive position, followed by safety (not CB) -- all based on tackles. CBs who return kicks and actually play, while rare, are the most valuable of all.
Position splits will, in fact, upgrade the quality of waiver players.
There were BTW virtually no true DLs in our league last year -- about 4-5 league-wide, most of which were hybrid LB/DEs like Ware, Harrison and Pace. Justin Tuck was IIRC the only true lineman. This is based on year-end rosters. I'd like to rectify that, and upgrading points per sack (from 1.5 to 3, plus the tackle) was with that roster change in mind. Most teams were playing at least one DB.
I don't see any issues with finding defensive players on waivers when needed. There will be plenty out there under any format.
I'm open to shuffling the position mix, though I'd prefer 5 to 4 total (so that total defense is worth about as much as an average QB week).

More D players = lower average points per D player. Means more people will punt the category entirely, among other things. Also means a lower quality of waiver-wire replacement.
Honestly, there's good reason to not have positioned D players at all - breaking it out to DL/DB/LB probably reduces the value quite a bit, both in that it reduces the strategy in picking D players [guessing that a particular DB will have enough INTs to put him in the LB field] and it significantly reduces the likelihood that you'll spend any bench slots backing people up, because you'd need 3 spots to have a replacement. (D) is a mid-quality position slightly more important than TE [RB, QB, WR, D, TE, K]; (DL,DB,LB) are low quality positions (all three!), likely to have no backups at all on benches (maybe LB only). There's good arguments for splitting it out as well, of course, I'm just saying there are reasons not to.
I'd rather see 1 DL, 2 LB, 1 DB, because then DL and DB will be reasonably available on waivers, and LB will be around the same quality as last year, which was about right I feel (probably the average person had 2 to 3 LBs on his roster, probably around 10 to 12 DL/DB were in starting positions).
Also, PLEASE don't use DE/DT/CB/S. That is way too much separation. If they don't have DL, DB, LB option, then just go to D entirely...
