Well. the FAI have managed to sack Steve Staunton.
It was a farce really. I was watching the Man U game and they kept switching to the correspondent before the game and at half time and it became clear the FAI were playing silly beggars. Seems like the FAI blame the media here for a campaign to get rid of Staunton and diving in and out of various hotels around Dublin whilst the media tried to track them down was their petty revenge.
Perhaps this time they will appoint a mangaer who actually has the qualifications and experience - but I would not bet on it!Never give an AI an even break.Comment

The Cyprus match was held at Croke Park. A full house of 70,000 brings in a lot of money for the FAI. 16,000 people didn't bother to turn up for the Cyprus game. A few more matches in front of a half empty stadium will cost the FAI millions. Again they can't afford not to get a manager who can get results.Never give an AI an even break.Comment

On the same subject of managers who can't get a team to play as a team I watched the Liverpool - Besiktas match on TV yesterday. If they continue to play like that Benitez won't make it to the end of the season.
I wonder how soon Jose Mourinho's severance agreement with Chelsea allows him to manage in the Premiership again?

Saw Liam Brady on TV here saying he would consider the job and did talk to the FAI last time. The impression I got was that he likes the idea of doing the job but if they actually offered it to him and he had to make a decision in the cold, hard light of day he would probably decide it would be too much hassle to be worth it.Never give an AI an even break.Comment

Pretty ****ing rich for Levy to wish results hadn't forced Jol to go. Perhaps he could see into the future and thats why he approached Ramos in August.

The thing is, Krill, that Liverpool were exhausted after all their tireless pressing through the game, and Fabregas ran much of the length of the pitch to slot in the equaliser.
Arsenal have scored a lot of goals in the last 10 minutes this season by tiring the opposition out with endless passing and beating them for pace at the end.Comment
