  • I've tried all but the last one. And with a family history of substance abuse, that sounds like a pretty rad idea.

      • Ah. So I've tried all but the last two. I mean, I've had alcohol before (don't like it (yes, I've tried whatever it is you think I'll like (no, I didn't like that)), don't like the idea of the effect it has), but I've never had a shot of monkey monkeys whenever I stepped out the yadda yadda.

          Okay.

I would only recommend self-medication if you have previous experience.

The first time with weed can be super-intense if you inhale properly. My first time was the best.

                  • I broke up with my substitute therapist yesterday. That was awkward. My original therapist will be back from maternity leave next week, and it was my plan all along to return to her. The substitute therapist was good. I liked her, had no problems with her. But I don't think I was able to convince her of that. The reason I'm returning to my original therapist is not because I didn't like the sub, but because I've been working with her for a year and I'm comfortable with her and all that jazz. Had the situation been reversed, I would have done the exact same thing--stayed with the therapist I'd been with for a year. But it felt like I was dumping the substitute therapist. It was awkward. And I feel bad about it. Probably have to talk to my therapist about it.

                    • Arg. Despite Kid's thanks, this is still bothering me. I kind of want to send my ex-therapist an email thanking her for her treatment and apologizing about the seemingly abrupt end to our sessions. Is that ridiculous? Should I not give a **** once she's no longer providing me a service? Monkeys.

                      • She should have known that, yes. But she seemed very surprised at the end of last session when I told her I wasn't coming back. My guess as to why is because I did a poor job of explaining that she was only temporary. I can't point to anything specific except the fact that I'm bad at the whole being social thing. And I do know that she had no reason to believe that was our last session. I knew from the beginning when my original therapist would be coming back, so I knew when the last session was going to be, but I never communicated that to my substitute therapist.

We played phone tag a couple weeks ago but I never got back to you. If you're still accepting new patients, I'd like to set up an appointment.

My name is Lorizael and I've been seeing Original Therapist for psychotherapy for the past year. She's gone on maternity leave, so I'm looking for another therapist I can meet with until she returns in June. You are one of the practitioners she recommended.

I'm being treated (by her and a psychiatrist) primarily for depression and social anxiety, both of which are longstanding issues for me.

If there's anything else you need to know or you want to set up an appointment, please get in touch. You can e-mail me or call me at < Lori's number >.

                          Thank you,

                          Lorizael

                              • If you don't contact her, she's going to think she cured you of your social anxiety by turning you into a sociopath. If you do contact her, she's going to know you're still worrying about inconsequential things relating to human interaction. Unless you ask her out on a date.
