A free speech ideal without any limits, or with very, very few limits.

FWIW, I don't think free speech is necessarily an 'end', but a means to an end and therefore we must look at in those terms.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

What kinds of speech do you feel are 'extreme', Imran. Can you give me a concrete example?

So let me put it this way. This woman called someone an Australian. Does that make her more dangerous, more likely to hurt someone in future? Is that really what explained her actions here? I don't think so.
Her fine was for the crime. The use of 'racist' language shows a propensity to incite hatred between groups. This can lead to a slight reduction of social cohesion and the creation of an 'us and them' mentality. Is it a big deal? No, then again neither was her increased fine attributable to the use of such language which was less than a parking fine or speeding ticket.

Extreme free speech, which I would be in favor of supporting but can understand where some would not, would be the KKK marching through a Jewish neighborhood or black supremicists calling fire & brimestone on white America.

What is the point of free speech if you are not free to say things that are unpopular?

                  Advocacy speech is more pernicious.

There is a difference between unpopular and potentially inciteful.

No, there isn't. It's just the degree of unpopularity. Many Greeks will go ape if you call Macedonia by its name. Many Turks will go ape if you suggest the Armenian genocide is a real thing*. Is that inciteful?

So you'd support arresting Reverend Wright for fanning the flames of hate in America?
