I pretty much have to eat at home to save money (to pay off my house early). But I'm running out of ideas of what to eat.
Hamburgers. Fried chicken. Veggies. Sandwiches. Chili. Breakfast (eggs, breakfast meat, toast/pancakes).

Cooking is easy. Eating pre-digested crap is hard.

I absolutely refuse to eat any pre-made foods like TV dinners, frozen pizzas, chili in a can, etc. I don't know about y'all, but I can just smell some of those preservatives and they drive me to distraction.

Especially microwaved pasta dishes. WTF is that damn stench? All of them have it and it is vaguely reminiscent of burning salt... My wife ate that crap all the time (not because she liked it, it's because she was assured it had X calories and X calories only. )

So I've just moved into college and apparently it's tradition to cook for yourself here. So...what should I make for myself? I just got a half dozen eggs, ketchup, and bread today...but I get a feeling I should expand my diet...
Who wants DVDs? Good prices! I swear!

Fried Egg on toast. Ketchup to flavour.

Eh... unlike JohnT, I don't mind frozen pizza or chili from a can (Stagg chili ). I don't really like TV dinners though (sometimes it depends what they are and if it matters if they'll get soggy).

Zkrib's reciepe for sweet & sour baked beans:

Dump a 16-oz can of B&M Baked Beans into a pan (remove the car first!)
Heap on a huge serving spoon of brown sugar.
Plop on a large blob of mustard, big enough for a layer to cover most of the brown sugar.

Stir & heat till it begins to send up little boiling bubbles.

This is how I cook food when I'm making food for myself; the best part of this method is that cleanup takes only about a minute since there's no grease involved.

Cooking isn't hard. If you don't feel confident enough to try stuff, then buy a cookbook and follow the instructions.

Here are my 4 best tips:

                              1. Make truckloads of bolognese sauce.
                              2. Buy a wok and try Chinese sautés (quick, easy, and tasty)
                              3. Buy an Arab tajine. Not quick (requires 1+ hour of cooking), but easy and tasty.
