  • Imperial Dip 50: Spring 1872 Moves

    "...so, the game ended with a final score of 10-7. Absolutely unbelieveable."

    "Thanks, Jack. In other news, the isles of Indonesia are heating up as pirate fleets ravage them now that their Dutch Masters are helpless... they've declared allegiances to both the British, Mexicans, & Confederates. No Chinese action down south yet."

    "Yes, they seem to be quite occupied up north. I mean, they surely have to defend against that daring attack straight into their home seas by the Confederate Admiral Pompous Maximus, who declared that he was going to sink all the unarmored fishing boats himself, right? That could cause some serious problems."

    "Of course. Anyway, the forces in British Russia have seemingly managed to hold out long enough for Chinese reinforcements to come over the Urals, which will surely be a help for them- I think the Austro-Turkish alliance lost their big chance to break through."

    "Still, holding Moscow can't be that bad. Don't you like the way they redecorated the Kremlin?"

    "Anyway, that was our world news recap. Stay tuned for our health update- will disease be a thing of the past in 10 years? General Maximillian thinks so, who is right now venturing into the heart of Africa with his brave Mexican explorers in search of a miracle panacea that he says God told him the location of."

    ---

    My deepest apologies about the delay- turned out to be as much my fault as some of the players.

    Fall Moves are due... Saturday shall it be?

    ---

    Long live Dixie! Hooray! Hooray!

    Since the "magnificent" CSA Naval forces can't seem to hold water against the
    Chinese junks, the Mexican navy has pushed them aside to sink the rice boats.

    Ah, the sweet joy of success. Goodbye Dutchman. Your little armies have
    been smashed into little bitty pieces.

    The British are running! The British are running!

    Never trust a low-down greasy Mexican scoundrel.

    ++

    London's skyline looks so much more attractive with Big Ben flying the Stars
    and Bars. The Union Jack has gone the way of the once proud an now feeble
    British empire.

    ++

    When using the phrase "Flying Dutchman" we never though it applied to their
    soliders, runiing from the front. As evidence by their 'brave' resistance,
    perhaps a more apt decroption would be "Dying Dutchman?"

    ++

    Emperor Defiant. Dont you dare build one more of those flee infested junks,
    or it will be sunk on sight. Of course builds will be hard to come by from
    here if you keep sucking up to the English whores.

    ++

    RICHMOND, VIRGINIA - June 1, 1872 - President Jeffereson Ruffhaus applauded
    the tactical superiority and cunning skill with which his Mexican neighbors
    have been demonstrating for us all lately. Three cheers for el
    Tri-Coloures!!!

    To CSA-Get your pieces of JUNK out of my waters or be sunk!

    To England:Hang on Prime MInister, help is on the way.

    An article in "China Today" titled, "CSA Loses Fleet Flagship" appeared today as a result of naval combat over the weekend. The article went on to say that the "CSS Rotgut" made an invading run for the very crucial Sea of Japan when she ran into 4 of the mightiest Chinese Emperial Fleet Battleships, CEF Black Dragon, CEF War Bird, CEF Battle Zealot and our own Emperor's Flagship, the CEF Defiant, named after the Emperor. Admiral Garrettioki who commads the Pacific Fleet was heard saying, "they are hitting us with only one battleship, marvelous, give it to them boys!". The battle begun at 10:02 and was over by 10:03, the Rotgut was no match for the 20" guns of the Defiant and her battlegroup. Unfortunately, all 5,000 hands were lost on the Rotgut and she was sent to her watery grave, China sent the hospital ship, but was too late.

    In another naval battle the CSA Battleship Hick was seen retreating from Luzon after the CEF Battleships' Nightmare and Grim Reaper blasted it off the Luzon mainland.

    All in all a good naval day for China, can't wait for the next battle, hopes and moral of the soldiers are at the highest.

      Before the GM and the Chinese Emperor get too giddy over the results, the CSA F Kuril Sea can (and would like to) retreat to Western Pacific Ocean. Sorry guys, but "Confederate Admiral Pompous Maximus" has a bit of a clue when it comes to this game, and anticipated the move. Just keep building fleets Defiant, I dare you. Bring it.

      And while Luzon is dislodged, the result is 1v2, not 2v3. Interesting choice of attack strategy though, particularly since you cannot hold it now. Oh darn!

      The map will be up later this evening if I get home in time.

          As a note: Yes, the Admiral, after a long period of dissapearance, finally made his daring escape into the Western Pacific Ocean after realizing that the fleet that moved south there wasn't replaced. Oops.

          Also, the 2:3 refers to the supported advance on the Phillipine Sea, which was supported defensively twice. Luzon was indeed dislodged 2:1.

            Please check for accuracy, thank you.

            Observations:

            * As noted above, CSA F Kuril Trench has a retreat option of Western Pacific Ocean.

            * CSA F Canary Islands - Bay of Biscay was supported by CSA F Strait of Gibralter, and therfore should succeed 2v1, dislodging English F Bay of Biscay, which then is disbanded from a lack of available retreats. Corresponding bounces of CSA fleets all the way back to Paramaribo should also advance.

            * Turkish A Baku - Georgia fails 2v2, and Turkish A Angora - Baku bounces with Baku.

                        Since it doesn't seem to affect anyone else, and the deadline is approaching, I'll post my retreats here just as I sent them to the GM:
