Russia has introduced a lottery draft for the army. Old weapon stockpiles are being polished off and several small shipments of advanced modern weaponry are being procured. Oil and natural gas wells continued to be opened up.

The network of universities and affiliated research companies have announced plans to develop synthesis processes for artificial fuels and plastics based on a variety of alternative hydrocarbons and synthetic materials to determine what can be most effective and economical.

Russia to United States, Israel, the countries of Europe (SECRET) :

We will buy weapons from whoever can give us the best deal on modern armorments. We are particularly interested in planes, missiles, electronics and countermeasures, etc.

    Paris News
    Editorial

    ---

Only eight short but seemingly endlessly long years ago, France and Germany were both considerable wealthy industrialised world powers. So was the United States, and many other countries in the Americas and Europe.

Things have changed. Mismanagement and bungling by former governments in both France and Germany caused our economies to depress. Global economic conditions were made worse when Bush's policies led the nation to the greatest depression since the 1930's. Nations of east Asia--notably Japan and Korea, that were once rich, disintegrated. Eventually many world currencies collapsed.

But what made China so special? Its leaders were smart enough to foresee the crisis. And they insured themself against disaster. Sure, the Chinese worker does not enjoy so many freedoms as the American or French worker does. But he does not have to worry about food on the table. He knows that when he goes home, he can eat with his family, and have leftovers, too! He doesn't worry about going hungry. And when he's not working or doing other necessary parts of life, he has more time than ever before for a person in China for leisure.

And what of other nations? The American worker doesn't work. He cannot feed his family at all. At best, he uses all of his time to fulfill requirements at one or more mediocore, dead-end jobs that can't pay his expenses, no matter how much he cuts from his budget. And then the taxes come. He will never be able to pay the taxes. The government must keep them so high because of the crushing debt burden it is under, and because of its ever-rising obligations.

France has fared better than America. "The bigger you are, the harder you fall," they say. But it envies its friends to the northwest--Germany. German citizens need not worry about their jobs, just like the Chinese. They have to work a lot harder, but they also can feed their children. And the German government is particularly stable, even as it transitions to dictatorship.

We will have a tough road ahead if our relations fall to war. Conflict must be avoided, at any cost to the King.

In addition, hopefully China will come to its senses and NOT declare war on Russia. They have little to gain, and you never know. This one could be the spark that sets off the entire world into war.

    Events in the World
Plagues and famines have caused a huge death toll in Africa. Regional and civil wars there have stopped due to the lack of people that can fight.

In South America, Bolivia invaded Chile. But Chile responded by marching on La Paz. As a result, Bolivia is now free again, but its government was installed with Chilean interests in mind.

The USA and Canada have pledged to stay neutral if Europe falls into conflict.

Oil prices have reached an all-time high, as some existing wells' production was poor this month and wealthy oil tycoons decided to cut production in other areas. Some economists urge that action be taken to reopen drilling in areas where it has been stopped or banned.

The Chinese government would like to announce that modernization is completed!

    People's Republic of China

    ECONOMY: 75 (Modernization costs money)
    MILITARY (Army/Navy/Air) 90/16/72
    DISCONTENT 8 (Education rises.)
INFRASTRUCTURE 50 (91 in major cities)
    EDUCATION 71

    CHINA to RUSSIA:
Your wrong. We'd like nothing better than to invade you Russian dogs, and we could easily do such a thing.
But we will hold off and give you a chance to tive us everything east of the Urals.

    CHINA to FRANCE:
On the contrary: They can give us much oil!

It is not worth it to go to war with Russia. Do not waste your time, all they can give you is barren ice-covered land and snow.

    To Germany
The insinuation that we would plant spies in Germany is ridiculous. King Mrmitchell I has never had a governmental spy organization during his reign, and everyone knows that hacking a broadcast is punishable by death in France.

    Orders:
French army continues training. Propoganda machine (pro-France only) reinitiated--Dissent falls by 5, but Education falls by 1. The "Produce more or we'll put your head on a pike" campaign is also working. French productivity and working hours has risen across the nation, but the Economy does not improve because it's mostly going to the army. Some of it just disappears from official records, however. Where does it all go?

Russia has mobilized its military and placed forces near the Chinese border.

    Russia to China:

We are very disturbed by how agressive your actions have been lately. Both of us want to avoid armed conflict, so we suggest a permanent treaty and a DMZ around our borders.

    From Germany to France

We are glad to see you admitting your faults. However, this public address is aimed against us... again...
One could think that your king is looking forward to a war, but then this would be foolish.

    From Germany to World

As recent roumors have been predicting a third war originating from German ground, the Chancellor wants to clear this misunderstanding once and for all:
"We will not, in any way, start a war about meaningless ideals again. Europe has seen too much of violence, as Germany did.
However we cannot simply ignore the ongoing insults by France, as they hurt our people and my job is to protect them.
Our analysts have found the origin of the recent French behaviour in the incompetency of their "monarch", and the exaggerated opinion of the French military, based upon their history.
The only way we see to regain peace in Europe is the return of Elsaß-Lothringen from the French occupators to the true owners, the German people. With this gesture of goodwill and friendship we would be willing to burry all quarrels between our peoples and finally establish a peaceful cooperation again."

broadcasting hacked by French spies in Germany!!!
We are a special agents group of King mrmitchell I. and we have managed to copy a secret German map of future claims! They talk of peace but they are lying!!! Here´s the document:

The world must act now, before it´s...
    end of transmission

This incident was inscenated by the French king! He still tries to destroy our international reputation! It´s all lies! We have no such claims!!!

Indeed the world is our concern now, for we have become a major power, and we will not sit idly by while Germany prepared to strike at France.
We now demand an apology from your nation regarding the insult against China! You have done much damage to our national image and pride!

We don´t want to destabilize Europe. The French did so, as they were disrupting our peaceful relations with hair-raising lies they broadcasted via their mass media. All we demand is a compensation for the immense damage done to our national image and pride. We demand a public apology by their king.

Why do you interfere with European matters? What is your purpose in France? Do you want to set up a puppet regime there to serve your hunger for might and power? Is this the reward for the thousands of millions we have invested into the buildup of your country? Your recent actions are a disgrace to your old civilization. Keep to your own concerns, as we will keep to ours.
