    Hmmm, the black spot. We all know that ’You have till 10 o’clock tonight’ was written on the black spot in ‘treasure island’. But what could it be? Remember this, for I’ll come to it later.

    "Not too soon, I'll be trustin'!" exclaimed Joncha, with a pat to his money pouch.

    The pirates laughed.

    "It depends," said Jonny, "Aye, it'll depend alright on 'ow fast we can get the 'Poly shipshape and floating again."
    "We'll be needing to get summat to fix it with, sir," commented Vovan, "Boshko, 'e says there's nobut a scrap of timber left in the stores and nary an inch o'good rope."

    The pirate mentioned nodded and grinned, showing his gold teeth.

    "Aye," said the piratical chandler "We'll be a'needing many things, be we."
    I already posted this part of the chapter 1 because I thought it incriminated Bosko. But you know, I was so occupied with finding the clues that I didn’t check the basics – Boshko’s post stats

    Hmmm, it appears Boshko couldn’t have done it, cause he wasn’t online in the incriminating period. But what the hell is this passage pointing to? Well, remember. The simplest way to hide something is to put it in the obvious place. Why in the world did Jamski use such an unusual word (chandler) for someone who’s keeping the inventory of a pirate ship?
    It’s simple really. Look:

    Chandler = Jon Chandler = joncha

    Something sinister happened around midnight, but it happened at the seventh plus three = tenth stroke of the bells. It appears we have number ten twice in Jamski’s clues. But why? Again, the best place to hide something is the obvious place.

    Ten hmmm, what is the significance of ten. But of course.

    joncha is number ten

    Now we come to the most important clues: Why was I not killed by the mafia? It was obvious I was going through the story and we all know that if I invest sufficient effort into it, mafia’s a goner. So, why?

    But of course! I suspected him and then I dropped my accusations. So, since I was on the wrong track, there was no need for me to be killed. His logic was that I won’t accuse a man twice.

    His defence was exemplary. I stopped suspecting him completely. He didn’t crack under that initial pressure. But you know what? Every man makes mistakes. And the only mafia I’ve seen that made no mistakes was Jamski in mafia 1.

    But he cracked when he replied to my farewell post.

    I guess he didn’t know that such posts are my tricks which I use to probe the mafia.

    Ah yes. And missing chapter 5 is a clue for me cause the black spot is mentioned twice in the ‘treasure island’. Jamski pointed me to the right chapter. Thanks Jam.

                So ye say... but a little review'll put that ta rest.

                "I can't pay yer," apologised Rasputin to Joncha, "Some bugger has stolen all the money from the collection box in the church."
                "Even if you had the money," replied the pimp, "I couldn't help you tonight. All the girls are out, and when they get back after midnight, FlameFlash has given me a huge bag of coins to book all sixteen of them at once. Even "Old Ada Smith", if ye can believe than."
                "Lucky man," replied Spaced Cowboy, who had heard the whole thing.
                "What?" exclaimed Chaunk, sitting by him, "Lucky? Have you seen old Ada?"
                "Don't worry boys," said Joncha, "I borrowed a sack from the pirate's stores. FlameFlash can put it over her head."

                They all laughed.

                * * * * *

                Later, in a dark corner of the bar, the Black Duke was talking to his first mate, Jonny.
                "Come 'ere." he whispered, "Come real close, Jonny, I ain't gonna bite yer, but I ain't gonna shout neither. I want ye to 'ave a look at this 'ere scrip o'paper."
                "It looks like part of a map, sir," whispered Jonny, "Can I see it?"
                "Aye" replied the captain, "Have a good look, me mate. T'were somethin' t'appen t'meself, ye'll be t'captain o'this crew, and ye should take this map and guard it with yer life."

                Behind the bar, Rah polished a few glasses and listened, and watched, and saw that although the secret was safe with him, he wasn't so sure about the hooded figure just outside the window, huddled in the rain, who also appeared to be listening. Rah tried to see his face.

                "Its gettin' cold in 'ere captain," said DrSpike, who crossed the room and closed the window.

                Rah saw the hooded figure disappear round the side of the bar, and observed something glinting under the hood. A medallion? A silver button? It was too dark. Perhaps just a drop of water on their nose...

                He scanned the bar, trying to see who was missing, but with the smoke from the pipes, it was hard... wait...

                At that moment midnight struck on the village clock, and Joncha's girls came flooding back into the room. Rah gave up. But what was that noise outside in the docks? A thud, timed to the seventh strike of the bells, and then a scuffleing noise, and three strikes later he was sure he heard a splash.

                * * * * *

                "Good news and bad news, girls," explained Joncha "FlameFlash is gone, but he paid in advance."

                A careful reader will note that Joncha isn't mentioned when the killings took place. In fact, Jamski makes a point of using asterisks to separate the killings from the time Joncha addresses his women.
                Also of note:
                "Don't worry boys," said Joncha, "I borrowed a sack from the pirate's stores. FlameFlash can put it over her head."

                Joncha's own admittance that he's been in our stores getting sacks. Possibly a joke; probably a clue.

                Also with Spiffor's death, Joncha would have best been able to dress up like a prostitute. In fact I think the women having been helping him- after all, we don't know the woman was trying to get Spiffor out of the sack. She could have been trying him up.
                It would also explain why the Duke was hacked to death. Multiple strokes from multiple women.

                Taint possible fer me t' change me vote now, but I reckon Joncha t' be the landlubbin' killer!
                I'm consitently stupid- Japher

                  • Well, I have to draw a line, and now the time is up.

                    Chapter 8 - Hang 'em High

                    On Sunday, out of respect for the dead seamen and landsmen, they didn't vote on the island, and out of the same deep respect, the killer also stayed his hand.

                    "Perhaps 'e's dead?" hoped GJRamsey, "Perhaps the killer is no more?"
                    "Well, we can make sure o'that," said Chaunk, "By voting for the right man."
                    "Aye," chipped in Snowfire, "But we ain't knowin' who that be, dammit!"

                    * * * * *

                    The voting proceeded under the joint stewardship of Jon Miller and Jonny, and as it became apparent that the detective Ljcvetko was to be selected, he leapt to his feet and spoke.

                    "Know this before you be sending me to my grave," he declared, "Yer so-called leaders 'ave a map, or should I say two 'alfs of a map."
                    "Is this true?" demanded DrSpike

                    Jonny nodded and Jon Miller hung his head.

                    "We were going to let ye all know, after we'd solved the mystery," said the clerk.

                    * * * * *

                    Despite his claims that he was the only one who could read the two map halves properly, Ljcvetko was taken into the town square and hung until he was dead.

                    * * * * *

                    "Ye're prob'ly that killer yerself!" accused Rah to Joncha.
                    "Aye," replied the pimp, "And 'ow many 'ave died under your roof?"
                    "Well," said Jonny, "Some dirty bastard is in the process of murderin' my crew, and I'm not sure we got 'im yet."

                    The discussion soon grew more heated, and led to a fight.

                    Spaced Cowboy swung a left hook at Ghengis Farb, smacking him nicely in the eyes. Half blinded, the painter turned and smashed a chair over Chaunk's head who lay stunned on the floor. Snowfire swung across the room on a hanging rope, only to be swatted out the air by a backhand from the massive fist of Hercules, sending him flying into Kassiopeia, knocking the poor cabinboy face first into the wall with a crunching sound.

                    "I think my nose is broken," moaned Kassi.

                    * * * * *

                    Later that night everyone was awoken from their sleep by a loud thud and a splash. Quickly dressing, they ran to the docks, where they found Frozzy floating on his back like a log in the sea, well wrapped in a sack, tied around his neck so he was covered apart from his head. He grinned at the villagers and crew.

                    "Can yer pull me out?" he called "That killer gave t'mooring pin a whack on the head instead of meself."
                    "Who were the killer?" asked Rah
                    "I didn't see," shrugged Frozzy, a difficult thing to do in a sack, "But 'e were bent over, and he kept 'is face turn'd from me all the time, even though it be dark."
                    "Any more?" asked Pave
                    "Aye," replied Frozzy, "E 'ad long hair, but when 'e turned away, it were gone. There were something shiny, and then 'e kicked me in."
                    "Probably the moon," scoffed Guynemer, adjusting his pyjamas.

                    Reaching out with a boathook, Jonny tried to bring Frozzy to shore, but in the darkness he put a hole in the sack, and deprived of his flotation, the rigger quickly sank. Like most pirates, he couldn't swim, and certainly not when in a sack.
