Well...almost...
The series of anti-drug ads portraying two guys sitting around talking about drug money and terrorism has ventured into new territory. In the ads, one guy continually seeks to rationalise drug use inspite of the alleged connection to the funding of terrorism while his buddy keeps shooting down his arguments. So now the first guy says, "change the law" - i.e., legalise drugs. And his buddy's response? So, you want heroin and cocaine sold at the local mini-mart? To which the first guy says that may not be such a good idea.
Apparently it's a better idea to have cocaine and heroin sold on innumerable street corners by pushers and heavily armed gangs. Apparently it's better to create a massive black market in drugs with the accompanying violence not seen since the days of alcohol prohibition. Apparently it's better to provide job opportunites for youngsters in the drug trade while juvenile crime continues to skyrocket continuing the trend from the mid 80's when the drug war pushers so wisely began increasing penalties for adults involved with dealing drugs.
But what the new ad doesn't spell out, although the implication is clear to anyone with a functioning brain, is that the drug war pushers have almost admitted the pact they've made with the devil - to prevent cocaine and heroin being sold at the mini-mart, they've decided to create a black market in drugs resulting in the possible funding of terrorism. In other words, they'd rather create a funding mechanism for terrorists than have drugs sold at the mini-mart even though the drugs are being sold on the streets anyway. What's worse? That these hypcrites think we're too stupid to see what they've done or that millions of Americans are as stupid as they think?
