  • I can't believe that was fractured . I like rootting for the Bucs. Oh well. That's the end of them this year.

    • I have no doubts Football's Human Bump Machine will be out on the field in two weeks. He knows what's at stake.

      • One good hit and he might be headed for the sidelines again... broken back REALLY hurts! I've seen my dad with a herniated disk, man. I don't know if Brad will be back, but if he is... man, is it going to KILL him!

        • Oh, Imran, I have no doubts about that whatsoever... but I can tell how bad he wants this, and he knows how much the offense needs him - he's the glue. If there's even a minute chance he can play, he will.

          • Well let's hope there is a minute chance. Broken backs are bad things... and they have a tendancy not to heal. I'm sure they get some sort of painkilling shots over there, but I'm not sure how strong .

            ---

Btw, anyone else think Dan Reeves is one of the worst coaches out there? 2nd and Goal at the 1. And you run up the middle? How about bootleging Vick out to the left? Jeez!

And now I know why Elway wanted Reeves gone so badly in Denver!

            • So, the top 8 in the draft are:

              1) Cinncinati
              2) Detroit
              3) Houston
              4) Chicago
              5) Dallas
              6) Arizona
              7) Minnesota
              8) Jacksonville

The rest of the 20 depends on whether St. Louis wins or loses (more likely) tonight.

Looking at it right now: Carson Palmer, say hello to your NEW home, the Cincinnati Bengals (poor guy )! And Ming should be happy, because Detroit and Houston have their QB of the future (and will likely draft OL) so the Bears have a crack at (and SHOULD draft) Byron Leftwich.

              • I'm not sure the Bears have any interest in taking a QB with their first pick. First, their success with first round QB's hasn't been good Second, they need a lot of players that can play NEXT year. A first round QB would take up money for a guy who probably won't start. I think they will look for a solid QB "prospect" in the middle rounds. A lot of different names have been tossed around by the media here.

                • Such as?

And will they all be as good as Jim Miller, who if you will remember, was a QB 'prospect' in the middle rounds .

They should take Leftwich. The main reason the Bears stunk this year was because the entire Defense was killed by injuries. They'll be back.

                  • After the Cade debacle... and looking at how some other "can't miss" QB's have turned sour... The Bears management doesn't want to get burned again. They would rather showcase that first pick and take somebody that is likely to make a difference next year.
Granted, they can always still make a mistake, but a line man is always a safer pick. While some "experts" think we are set at wide receiver and running back, an upgrade there wouldn't hurt either. A defensive back would also add to, hopefully, a healthy defense next year.

                    • Yeah, but recently which mid-round draft pick QB has turned out good? I mean, the most recent one was Brian Griese, but it looks like he is on the way out in Denver!

All the good young QBs that have come out lately have been 1st or 2nd round: Chad Pennington (1st), Mike Vick (1st), Drew Brees (early 2nd). Tom Brady is the only one that came out later (and IIRC, he was 3rd round), and it is looking like he might be more of a flash in the pan.

If I was Chicago I'd go Leftwich, or wait until round 2 and go for the Louisville QB.
