No, but I've read studies on this back when a friend of mine got pregnant. I was being the disturbingly nice guy I always am.

But then you need to spend more money doing the laundry!
I don't understand what that meant, and I'm usually so good at catching meanings like that.

NO! Don't have it done. It's unnecessary. Besides, later in life, that little flap of skin may be useful for something.

I haven't figured out what yet, but hey? Ya never know, lol.

Congrats on having a boy, btw. I guess it would have been congrats on having a girl too though, eh?

I mean, not cutting it would be like leaving the umbilical cord!
...which falls of naturally and is only cut so it doesn't run into things before it does so...

God told us to do it,
If you'd read my posts, you'd know I disagree.

and it has been proven that it is cleaner.
Nothing ever stays clean unless you clean it.

If it lowered pleasure then my parents wouldn't have circumsized me.
Well, I hate to bring this up, but maybe they didn't care about that enough to let it influence their decision, or maybe they didn't know.

It would be horrible to have to be circumsized as an adult because you would remember it and the wound would take longer ot heal.
Well, let's all hope that no one would ever HAVE to be. And how do know there aren't wounds of which you're not aware?

Just because it hasn't hurt you, AFAYK, doesn't mean that's a good reason to do it. And since you haven't had the luxury of having a foreskin, you don't know what you're missing, I guess.

If you want your kid to have any possibility of being a porn star you better snip him. It's kind of an unspoken code.

In all seriousness though, I'm snipped and I have no idea what it's like not to be. I suppose leaving it up to him would be a good choice, and it may appease the in-laws for the time being.

What if you child decides to become a devout Muslim, despite how you raise him?

I think the chances of that not happening are much greater than of it happening.

And, if it does, he can always choose to be circumcized then.

But he can't go back the other direction.

You can go back, it's just a more expensive and difficult process and leaves horrible scarring.

Yes, I'm sure if he turns out to be the kind of person who, despite my perfect and logical upbringing, still chooses to be religious, he'd also be the kind of person who would want to undergo pain for his religion.

I don't think it's that big of a deal either way. I'm circumcized, but my dad wasn't. Doesn't seem to have affected us one way or another wrt sexuality.

I do think that there are some health benefits to circumcision, but as Dino's article points out, the costs come out at about a wash. The penile cancer and STD issues do show a net benefit for circumcision, however.

Overall, I don't think this is something to worry about on principle. If your hubbie would feel more comfortable if his boys are cut, I don't think it's worth getting him worked up over, even for 5 minutes. I mean, do you bring around pork a lot?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
