  • I don't know. But I don't think the Ukraine will be joining the EU any time soon. Especially not if EU-Russia relations get worse than they are now. The Ukraine may get "Finlandized".

        • Don't do anything that may annoy russia to avoid an invasion.

          • Afraid of Russia? The Finns need a spine, Russia wouldn't dare invade Finland if it joined the EU, it would lead to WWIII.

Actually, that was the main problem - to avoid WWIII. I guess that there are some finns on this site that can explain it clearer.

                • The term dates back to the Cold War, when Finland, as it happens, was not part of the EU. Back in the 1930s the western Allies had promised Finland support during the Winter War, but it never really materialized, and this was what caused such scepticisim when it came to the west running to Finland's aid in case of a Soviet invasion - which in turn meant bending over backwards in a paradoxical attempt to be friendly with the USSR but not to appear leaning too much in that direction.

                    You lose.
Yanukovich didn't play fair - ie fixed the election.

                    game restart.

                    Putin may loose.

Unfortunately, they know how to owerthrow governments way better than anyone else. Whole this crap reminds me the article about their coup in Iran. Nothing has changed since that time.
