Both think of violence as a virtue and sex as a shameful thing - atleast christianity does (I'm not so sure about islam).
You have it backwards. Both would say that in marriage sex can be a beautiful thing. It's not a matter of them seeing sex as sinful, but something that can be very powerful, and ought to be treated with due care.

As for violence, no Christian would glorify violence done for it's own sake. And you do run across the occasional pacifist.

So no, kids dont make the difference. And I know my 3 year old son doesn't. And I cant do shlt about him falling on Rambo in the middle of the afternoon when he's flipping channels.

      Spec.
At what age do they start knowing what is real then? Even then, there is still nothing they can do with their violent knowledge. Had I had access to porn as a kid, then my pre-pre-teen sexual experiment stage would have been a whole lot more serious as I would have know exactly where to stick it.

fwiw, I thiknk rambo in the afternoon is wrong. I dont think you would see anything like that over here before the 9pm watershed.

It (pornographic acts) goes very quickly and the whole ordeal can look quite violent

I don't want to judge peoples tastes on sex. Some like it gentle, some like it hard

You don't have to look back more than 500 years in history (crusades), and you'll notice how peaceful religion christianity is. Actually you don't even have to go that far - America will do too (and the sayings of G.W.Bush). And according to islam, if you fight and die in jihad, you get to go to the paradise. I'd say they both are pro-violence.

Well, not perhaps pro, but definetily not anti-violence.

And atleast Catholic religion is against pre-marital sex. But I don't understand why: marriage is not a sacrament.

Did they go to war for religious motives, or for other reasons? One of the Crusades sacked Constantinople.

Secondly, Christians can and do make mistakes about what their religion teaches. There is no justification for the Crusades in scripture.

Finally, do even the Crusades fall under the category of violence for its own sake?

I actually concede the point on Islam. It is debateable whether or not Islam calls for the slaughter of unbelievers.

Not sure what you're getting at here. Marriage, according to Catholics is a sacrament.

Okay, my mistake. In protestantism marriage is not a sacrament (I thought it was so in the whole christianity).

Oh, kids can see all the explosions, gunfights, and beatings they want.

But GOD FORBID they ever see a nude female! That would be disastrous!

Sure. And I like it both
But I don't think children should get to see "hard" sex at a period where their understanding of sex remains very limited, and where they could develop into thinking sex has to be "hard", is necessarily related to violence etc. I have no real beef with porn being extremely quick and loveless. I have a beef with showing such porn to fragile children.

Now, I have no problem with children seeing nudity, even at their youngest age (actually, I think children should get to see naked people before getting to see clothed people ). I have no problem with children witnessing couples having sex, as long as such sex cannot be confused by their fragile minds as something violent / hateful or the like. I.e, if you intend to have it hard on honey tonight, don't do it in front of the children

midnight - 4am should be completley un censored, more or less anything goes (short of 'wierd **** etc'). If an 8 yr old is up at 3am watching porn, then i am sure the parents have some explaining to do.

But whats the point of debating this? Have any of you seen how **** late night stuff is on sky (UK)??? USeless, bloody useless

If some teenager could stay at home, erm, playng with himnsel all night, i am sure he won't be out pissed in some alley causing problems. Way i see it anyway....
