Fvck it -- I'm not going to get the repairs just so I can get a couple of hundred bucks from this piece of krap.

I'm going to junk it, and buy myself a much better used car, and have an auto shop inspect whatever car I'm interested in, before I buy it.

I suggest you go to a reputable local import dealer (ask around) or check on the internet. Many of them have web sales sites now, where you can browse the cars and negotiate price before even going in there.
Buy a Honda or Toyota sedan, preferable a Civic or a Camry.
Hire a "mobile mechanic" to check it out for you...most metro areas have these independant inspectors for a charge of about $50 or so. They can discreetly inspect the car before purchase.
Check the fluids, hoses, tires, wear and tear, etc. If the inside is beat to ****, the driving was probably rough as well.
A little 4 cylinder truck or sedan will drive to the moon and back with little maintenance.
If all else fails, Sloww can ride you on the back of his pony.

Check out specific cars at www.epinions.com for how other people have liked them.

Feel free to PM with questions...I have been around cars my whole life, both in sales and repair, and know a thing or two.
I already planned to have an auto shop inspect whatever car I become interested in considering.

And no -- I am not going to ride any horse with SlowwHand. He's liable to kidnap me, and toss me into a boat, heading towards Cuba.

or you could inspect it yourself

it helps to know about cars.

I'm fairly knowlegabel about the obvious stuff. Though I admit I have no clue how to rebuild an engine. I have never even cracked open an engine block. But I know what stuff is supposed to look like. But with modern cars it helps to get them on the computer as well. If you know an independant mechanic who can do that, that would be an added bonus.

I'm learning tons of sh*t as it is -- I don't have time to learn the mechanics of my car.

I know where to fill the oil and the gas in a car.
I know how to use the wipers, as well as emergency flashing lights.
I know that my car needs four wheels -- not three.

I don't need to know anything else, ok?

                  I only buy new now.

People tend to treat their own private automobiles like rental cars now days. And the popularity of leased vehicles makes this problem even worse. People just don't know how to take care of automobiles. I'm tired of getting stuck with their problems (well I've only had 2 used cars in my lifetime- and 1 new car).

Sure there is a markup on new cars. And it depreciates fast. But that is not a concern if you plan on keeping your vehicle for 10 + years like I intend to. I actually am aiming for 20 or 25 years out of my vehicle.

And because of bad experiences with bank (not being able to get credit even with a good credit score), I only pay cash for my vehicles now. When I'm ready to buy a new vehicle, I will save up $20,000 to do so. And when you do this, you can haggle the prices down.
