I think Bob should head NE until out of German territory and then follow the border round so we can get an idea of where the other nearby German cities are, etc. We could skirt round Dusseldorf and head south, but we'd be in German territory for a long time then...

.......or Bob could make a crazy raid and try to take Dusseldorf; think about it......he might succed,it's just size 1, probably very new? We get a second city in a good location(tobacco - not that smoking is a good thing), build our third near either the spud or the coal. This would mean we can stay peaceful towards the austrians as we are already on ok diplo terms with them. We would have a nice collection of reasonably defensable cities to weather the german storm, untill they get fed up with attacking us and sue for peace?
Just a thought....Bob is casting his eyes over such a tasty target, so close.......so far?

I believe the Germans are being typically industrious...
They seem to have the largest military. If I had to choose, I'd choose to go to war with the Austrians... but...
it is a very new city... probably will be in unrest, due to distance penalties... not being on a river and all... and if so maybe it won't be developing a 'quick' defense, unless the AI rush buys it one, and we can walk in and take it over... (at size2)

well while we are having fun and before the sensible-ones turn to shout, 'CoT! Nooo! Fighting the austrians is one thing but the germans!U is crazy man!'.
I have one reservation,i think that i would feel happier if we had slingers sometime soon before trying out the germans metal.
But that extra city would be a nice boost, what with the settler as well to make three. We don't need to wait untill its size 2, 1 is best as it will be less(or non)defended and you don't just destroy a city when it is small(like in civ2), so now(or in ten turns when Dave can join the fun)is a good time if any.
Put another way if i was playing this game myself i would give one of the two nearest civs a bloody nose atleast, knowing i could in this situation handle it and survive to be in a stronger position.Sometimes you got to take these chances and hope to lady luck

I have never played a craddle game but if we consider a SAP2 game at a "very Hard" difficulty level the Germans might already have a 11 units stack lingering at the border of its territory. I don't think we have the power to resist when they retaliate.

When I remember right:
size 1 get's distroyed,
size 2+, will get size -1.
With out-of-the-box, the city always survived, but not with any MOD.
So, not so good to take over this size 1 city..........Comment

well, though this is offtopic. thats one good point of aachen, its the same distances to the netherlands, belgium, cologne and düsseldorf. so you can just order a kölsch, an alt, a pils, some belgian strong beer, or even a weizen (bavarian) in the same pup without being beaten up. ever tried to order a kölsch in düsseldorf or an alt in cologne?
the bad side is, its nearly impossible here to get a good wine anywhere

I wouldn't drink this glibberish Koelsch at all.
Do you know how it is produced? That are the leftover's, when you drink Alt................Colour/taste all the same (I haven't tried, I was just told )

i prefer a good pils from northgermany (beck's, flensburger, ..) or a weizen. sometimes a belgian one or a guiness and of course not to forget Köstritzer Schwarzbier.

Pils isn't to bad, but just a bit bitter, not that I like it sweet.......
Guinuess is best in Eire..........but most of the time (Europe) it is drinkable.............
