  • Turn 18 ==> Jon

It's seems that the Incans have just produced a large amount of regiments.

Noble St Jon, are you embarking on another crusade?

It would appear to be the most prudent course of action in view of our somewhat frolicsome neighbour.

Methinks that 'The Jockey with an unconventional seat' is not given to the establishment of harmonious neighbourly relations and to ignore self-defence would be folly.

A proposal has been passed onto the King that we officially change the name of our land to "The Boondocks", as we seem to be smack-dab in the middle of 'em. But I guess we'll be meeting our other neighbors as soon as mighty ships begin to sail the seas.

Until then, we continue to grow our grapes and make our wine(and drink it). Actually, not such a bad life...

The Pharaoh held a meeting with his foriegn ministers, to discuss a threats posed by other nations; both short term and long term.

In the short term it was concluded that no threat was present to most cities, but it was advised that settlers in certain areas be sent out with escorts to protect from possible slavers.

Long term was a matter of extreme debate, some feared the Welsh technical prowess, while others pointed to the large size of Roman cities. To little was known concerning Assyria and Inca to draw an substantial conclusions.

It seems that whoever has displeased St Jon the Fornicator is in for real trouble. Once again it seems that whole hordes of regiments are being formed by the Incans.

            • Turn 19 to Incitatus.

I hope that at last the Pro-Consul will be able to show his 'rider' the path to reason and accept a Map Exchange.

The Inca have no desire to attack anyone and have both curtailed further military construction and the Army has been given orders to stand down. It should be noted that such are the warlike tendencies of the Inca that prior to the brutal attack upon our exploration unit the two Cities unsuited to Settler production had settled quietly down to the production of Caravans!

To the 'Fornicating' Welsh I would also advise that an offer of a 'Fornicating' Map Exchange has been made and if they choose to 'Fornicating' ignore it then so be it!

I am as eager as any to hear news of neighbours who do not choose to share their beds with grazing animals but without cartographic exchanges this is impossible and I am ever more drawn to the sad conclusion that the Egyptians and Assyrians are not legendary but mythical people and that we are condemned to inhabit a planet populated only by those from whom our Llamas will never feel safe.

              • It would appear that High Priest Jon has had too much fornicating on his mind lately as he appears to have forgotten to pass the turn baton on to the Imperator...

Emperor Caligula wishes to send his apologies about his lack of communication of late as he has been travelling his vast realm meeting the people - this has of course taken a lot longer than expected due to the sudden population explosion sweeping the Roman Empire! This of course is due to the ambitious building programme of Aqueducts and Granaries, as well as the fact that Roman citizens are the weathiest in this World! Truly the act of a magnanimous ruler who places the welfare of his citizens as his highest priority!

Emperor Caligula will consider High Priest Jon's request of a map change seriously. Emperor Caligula is now satisfied that Rome can now successfully defend her borders against any hostile intentions and is willing to extend the hand of lasting peace towards the Incas...

To the great King Rick of the Assyrians, A Diplomat has already been despatched for contact with the Assyrians, his is currently waiting for a Longship to be built and is assisting with Cartographic duties for the 'Roman Papyrus Survey'. It is anticipated a landing on your side of the channel in about 10 'cycles'... Emperor Caligula is rather partial to Wild Boar and was hoping that the Royal Caterers of Assyria might be able to come up with a special commemorative dish in celebration...

O Great Pharoah Sophanthro, a Diplomat has been despatched and is on his way to Giza bringing fine gifts and spices from the Roman Empire...

                • I offer my humble apologies to my Friend and Neighbour for the delay in posting.

Sadly I was not engaged in Fornication but in sampling the delights of a strange new beverage, the recipe for which had been learned from our seaward neighbours the Welsh.

Strangly I became somewhat light-headed, absent minded and found that my balance was somewhat impaired. It also seemed to affect my vision and produced a rather unpleasant effect upon my stomach.

I warn you brothers and sisters, leave this evil brew alone. 'Be Ah', I believe the Welsh call it, for far from being the aid to Fornication that the Welsh claimed I actually found that none of my wives were able arouse my interest. I think that it actually was a plot to poison me!

                  Turn actually sent to Caligula.

A somewhat under the weather Chief Jon.

Today the Assyrian people look to the horizons wonder. For having exchanged tablets with the mighty Caligula, upon which are etched images of the world and its inhabitants, much that was dismissed as myth hath been found to be quite true.

To have found such fine and prosperous peoples is cause for much excitement in Assyria. There is much we can learn from the scholars of these new lands, and we hope to establish actual diplomatic relations soon that we might share discoveries and devices we ourselves have created.

It is indeed a new world that was born today!

                      • WE HAVE BEEN TRICKED!!!

Why we went against our better judgement and acquiesced to high priest jon's bad tempered demands of a map exchange!!? There is an Incan legion merely 3 leagues from one of my cities at full battle readiness making a complete mockery of any peace between us!!! Lies I tell you, LIES!!!

This Legion will be hunted down and exterminated like the treacherous venom-tongued curs that they are!!! There shall be no mercy for any enemy unit caught within my borders, now or in the future...

One good thing that has come out of this exchange is that on a rough calculation the production output of the Incan civilisation cannot amount to any more that about half of mine - chief jon may have bountiful lands but I fear that he may not have placed his cities or managed his economy wisely. Such is often true of those with warlike tendencies...

Formal map exchanges have been requested with both the Assyrians and the Egyptians, firstly in the spirit of knowledge - It now gives the locations of ALL five civilisations. And secondly, as proof of the Incan incursions deep into my fairly delineated territory. Given my repeated warnings you must agree that this is a CLEARLY AGGRESSIVE MOVE...

The Welsh have finally managed to establish the whereabouts of the supposedly intelligent barbarians. Diplomats have been given orders to find the most direct route and seek out these outlanders for our mutual benefit.

A formal peace treaty has been agreed upon by the Welsh and the Incans. In order to stop the Incans population explosion many shipments of Welsh be-ah are being sent to the lands of the fornicators by ways of deterrent from their devious ways.

However, word has it that such premarital deviance is considered quite joyous by the the Incans, and by Noble St Jon in particular. The Welsh sailors are intending to find out if any of the Incan ports have the facilities for them to experience such activities.

Roman and Egyptian ports are also to be sampled, and perhaps a comparison could then be made about the varying techniques of these different peoples. Rumour has it that the Romans like group activities, whilst the Egyptians are said to enjoy the company of cats and pointy objects. It is widely believed that the Incans are not that fussy, just as long as they get it.....

                            • Turn 20 to Incitatus.

The Depraved One does talk nonsense. How is it possible that an Empire so proud in the boasts of it's might should be affeared of a single Legion. The timespan and distance between our people must surely indicate that this is a simple mercenary who will be forever at War Readiness regardless of our orders to stand down. With the Roman reluctance, or fear, of sharing cartographic information we had no choice but to send out our own scouts. You who have violated your own demarkation line to cruelly attack our mounted scout can hardly cry betrayal.

The Inca had no way of knowing that they approached so close to Roman lands, an early map exchange could have avoided this confusion, and since we are not blessed with the sense of smell of a Sniffer Dog can hardly be blamed for stumbling about in the dark. As all people are we merely seek to learn more of our new home and it's many wonders.

As for the crude jokes made by the 'Immoral Shepherd of Cardiff' as to Inca mating habits I would strongly point out to him that whilst his people may lay with the Lamb, The Romans have their Mounts 'Mount' them and we have heard tales of how the Egytians are somewhat over affectionate toward their close family members we Inca follow nature and enjoy our womenfolk and delight in the fruits of their ample loins. Do not try and tempt my peaceful farmers and traders with your disgusting beverages designed, at best, to produce impotence and I suspect much worse!

I see you now Noble Egyptians and hope that we shall soon be able to send an Envoy to your shores. I had hoped to see some sign of the Assyrians, we know not what perverse activities they indulge in, but nothing has been gained at all. Where are you my friends?

The Assyrian Housing Authority reports a surge in demand for carpenters as a new town was established today and another three will be in place by the next report.

Eager Assyrian families are already at the site of these new towns, clamouring for lots. The reports of widespread graft and bribery of Housing officials issuing zoning permits are completely false, and should be disregarded by the public.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs has viewed the recently aquired maps of the world, and has issued his compliments to the fine nations of the world. He was especially taken by the Welsh, whom he remarked "have enough beaver to make a grown man weep".

As to reports that the great Incans have yet to see our lands, we suggest that they again trade maps with one of the other three civilizations, for they do have our location by now.
