I still have need for a slave master. Perhaps some loyal member of the tribe might volunteer to serve in such a post?

O Great Togas, Lord and Master of the Kingdom of the Iberians and the Visigoths, were that I had not yet received my copy of Play the World, I, surely your most faithful servant, would volunteer for anything you would need.

I find myself struck by the same illness that Hernan de History Guy Calamari is, or else I would gladly serve my lord. I hope that another, healthier individual is able to assist my lord in this matter, or that I recover shortly. (Very unlikely before December...)

O great Togas, I would, but

I suck at Play the World.

(Meaning, I don't really want to. You can do it yourself, or I can get the first 5-turns slavemaster position(only a couple of tasks! )

Wow, me and History Guy totally posted at the same time, dude. Which reminds me, if you're in the regular C3DG, vote El Duderino to rename Contaginon.

Anywayz, I say, what do you usually do with a worker on the first few turns anywayz? I usually have it build roads in my own city and then once the first spear is done I have it head out building behind the spear's path to the nearest bestest building location. Is this good?

if you have bonus squares such as wheat or better yet a cow, it is a good idea to start by irrigating to start having the city grow as fast as possible, then road.

I try to identify 2 or 3 key tiles that will most benefit me, improve them, and then begin roading to luxuries or a good city location. This can all be done usually before the first settler comes off the line anyway.

Yeah, it's a known plague in Europe these days.
It came from an unhealthy goods distributor.
                  Amazon, something with uk.

Sadly, this illness does not seem to be confined to Europe. I myself and many others in the far-off land of Oz also find ourselves afflicted by it.

mines should be secondary to the opportunity to irrigate a bonus tile that will actually yield more food prior to a more advanced form of government (ie: cows or wheat), I humbly suggest we irrigate that first and let REX be our primary objective.

Cows and wheat are a free ticket to more cities which is a free ticket to more resources, a free ticket to more commerce, a free ticket to production, a free ticket to more... bleh

Obviously this is only applies if we actually are blessed with such a good starting position as would give us bonus tiles. Irrigating typical grassland squares under despotism is fruitless as we all know, and in that case, mines it should be.

But I don't think mines at all costs will ever outweigh the benefit of faster REX (provided are start allows it )

Faster REX is manytimes assured by building 2 mines early-on while building a granary. Once you have 2-3 mines to boost production and granary so your population can keep pace with your production, REXing is FAR more efficient. Otherwise, it takes too long build spear+settler combos.

Ultimately, however, which of these two plans is superior will be decided by the start location (which we can't see yet...). If we're in a high-food area, build mines to boost shield production. If we're in a high-production area, irrigate land (if possible) to boost food production.
