  • You know you’ve not played civ for too long when…

Well, I realised when I got stuffed off the cuff when trying to rescue a game from my brother at Prince this Christmas.

Hmm, that’s another possible interpretation. I had had a bottle and a half of wine right enough. How reassuring! Yes! I’m a drunken bum who may or may not suck at Civ, today is a success!

Given the context, "My brother knocked the stuffing outta me at Civ" would be a good guess...
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Gosh, I wasn't trying to be obscure, but I'm afraid attepmted translations thus far have missed the spot a bit.

I suspect the "from" should be "for".

So johnmcd's brother was having trouble with an SP game played at Prince level but when big brother said, "Look, I'll show you how to do it" the AI whipped his ass too.

A sort of tipsy succession game.

Now pass that half empty bottle over her, johnmcd, with the game file, and let the next man have a go at this strangely competent AI.

Seems to me the mistake you made is not offering the AI a convivial glass or two.

Who's she and what's she doing down there?
