Big Crunch, you're right we aren't mind readers. But it is a good reason for you to focus on the word.

SITS, Santa Claus is to Christmas as Muhammad Ali, the boxer, is to Islam. There is a relationship perhaps, but it is quite dim in the eyes of most of us. As to the hats, I'll bet a lot of us would have fun with hats at all sorts of holidays. Others, such as Gasmaske, would regard all of it as "too twee," even tho smilies themselves sans hats are pretty twee.

Faded and Blaupanzer - I agree that a Santa cap isn't necessarily a reference to christ etc but the title of this thread is 'Christmas Caps...' and a few posters repeat the phrase 'Christmas caps...' before I posted. Now if the thread was 'Santa caps' then it wouldn't be excluding a large section of the worlds population and I wouldn't need to post with my tongue slightly in my cheek!

The use of the word Christmas is christen-centric and from what I understand of America they use Holiday season instead so they don't exclude anyone. Which doesn't sound like a bad idea in the current international situation...

If I could have one capped smiley as a model, I'm sure I could design caps for the smileys in no time.

...Some people take offence at anything- I'm not offended by the fact that Muslims celebrate Ramadan- Why should anyone be offended by others celebrating their religious holidays?

DC - I'm not sure it is about people being offended by others celebrating another religion it is the assumption that their religion/beliefs are the only ones etc. This can be conveyed by language as well as actions. But to be honest I'm not too arsed!

                      Speak for yourself.

Many of us associate Christmas with Santa Claus more strongly than with a certain Jesus of Nazareth.

...which should say something about the validity of the complaints about Apolyton honoring a religious holiday...

I like the caps...and its Apolyton tradition...keep 'em.

It's not like capped smilies last year.

                                ...I think.
