advantage of certain types of armour

I read that projectile armour gives an advantage vs. energy weapons and vice-versa. If that is true what is the extent of that advantage? Does the other type of armour (binary?) have the same advantage over both?

I am wondering b/c I like to change the rule file.

No, that was apparently a rule they planned to put in, but never did. The basic settings for it still exist in the .txt file, but they have no effect in the game.
