save game won't load

I reinstalled the game and when i try to load one of the save games it tells me that "(file name).sav is not a valid save game file"
What's up?

Could be a corrupted file. Especially if you were playing the original version of Civ III which even managed to occasionaly corrupt a save on XP with the NTFS file system.

just on the offchance, what's the name of the SAV file in question in Windows Explorer?
