You're never around during the day. If you showed up a bit more often we might make some progress.

                  I'll check in later.

The simmering feud between our neighbours - across the road from us and beside us - blew up last night. Good night for it, too. Stinking stinking hot - around 30C at midnight - and not a breath of a breeze. At a quarter past midnight there were raised voices in the street under our second-storey bedroom window. Then the sound of punches. So, naturally, I had a stickybeak. Two chaps from the house beside us had the chap from across the road pinned against their car and were thumping him. The feud seems to revolve around parking in the street. Not that it's a street in Australian terms, more a wide alley, wide enough only for a small car to navigate. The people beside us - Romanians - insist on parking outside their front door which has local council "No Parking" signs plastered on the wall. The people across the road - Italians - object because it makes it difficult to navigate the street. Six weeks ago it was shouting, last night it was on for young and old. It settled down eventually. All went quiet. Until next time.

for goodness sake keep your heads down - stating the obvious but worth stating - this could get ugly - if its locals versus foreigners my money is on the locals.

Yes, we're staying right out of it. I daren't mention to any of them that we're legally entitled to park our car outside out front door, which isn't far from the Romanians' front door. The space is actually confirmed on the property title. We only bring the car in when we have shopping to unload. Otherwise we leave it parked outside the town walls, about a five minute walk. The street is just too narrow.

Our Italian Guardian Angel - the woman who manages this place - will get the gossip for us on what it was about exactly. But, even with my limited Italian, I could tell it was about parking.

And the Italians are bound to win out. They own their place. The Romanians, apart from being foreign, are renting.

                        Speaking of parking problems
My street is narrow so everyone parks on the nature strip to leave room, the council came along yesterday and planted a bloody gum tree on all nature strips but mine.
I notice this morning that some have vanished in the night.

ya we have a similar thing here - the govt plants trees, the residents pull them up for parking or to preserve their views of the mountains.

We have so many trees around us it doesn't matter how many we pull down to preserve the view... of more trees!

BTW We've planted more than we've culled.
                            What's an alley anyway?

I think that new 4 way is going to end in gridlock. The turns are slow because there is too much land and too many cities. If there is a war, play will grind to halt, like that old Onion island 5 way. That's why we went to smaller archi/island maps.

It looks like one of those diplo games which some like but I think are dreadful borefests. Cities everywhere, micro, micro, snore ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

It seems like any other game with a fair map. I interpret gridlock as even.

Someone will find a strategic advantage and win the game.

The game has slowed a little during the caravan trading stage, like any other game, but that should speed up now. I'm happy for a timer BTW, say 2 mins?
