First question: yes, that is correct?

Second: So far I've been settling for attack sounds with some having movement implied (mostly the air ones).

Not quite: The aircraft use generic sounds (piston and jet) IIRC.

In ToT, you can over-ride the generic aircraft attack sound...
But the 'out-of fuel', 'dive-bomb' and 'crash' sounds remain the same.

And the jets sounds of this type apply to any unit after the helicopter slot...
