I hope you guys are right about the upcoming release date, but bitter experience has taught that no release date is "real" until the product has gone gold. Even then, distribution problems can push out a date somewhat too. I would not be planning vacations and stuff around a game release date, if I were you guys.

Well, after the game's gold, it would take something very unusual to shift the release date more than a couple of days. It's very rare for a game to miss its release date by more than that, during the distribution.

28th July is the advertised release date here in NZ!

Perfect - middle of winter, freezing cold, absoluetly no reason to go outside.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

I strongly doubt that the winter you have there in NZ can be honestly called "freezing cold" .

No, I bet that it is "freezing cold."

That is, if you call 20 degrees C with no sun "freezing."

You live in Israle though, and the guy from NZ lives... well there...

In America where the game sells the most it's the time of year people go out a lot.

Actually we have had one of the worst, coldest winters for about 60 years this year.

Down in the South Island, where I am moving to next week, the snow and ice has been terrible, with it actually snowing, and the snow settling, on the beaches!

So not as cold as the artic circle granted, but cold enough for black ice on roads, water pipes freezing and bursting etc etc.

Oh, yeah, I totally forgot, go watch the Lord of the Rings and you'll see all the snow scenes, shot in NZ.

I do not live in Israel, I have an Israeli flag .

Over here, this last January, it was -30 on a couple of particularly cold days. Arrrgh. Much as I prefer winter to summer, going out at -30 was not a pleasant experience.

Take that global warming. Here in Indiana it's hard not to belive in global warming. It was 50 degrees on Christmas, and 45 degrees through January. The year before we were covered in twenty inches of snow. Through winter this year every two weeks it drop to 35 degrees, then a storm would come through (so I had to turn off my computer and civ) and it would go up ten degrees. The worst one of the storms was the storm that generated the November 6 tornado that you may have heard of.

But the game is gold - it went out for replication yesterday.

My only cautionary note would be that the 24th is the day it SHIPS; it won't be on shelves until the 25th most likely.

The middle of summer is a good time for students home from school with time on their hands. I imagine they fit neatly into the Civ demographic.

                                "-30" what? -30C = -22F but -30F = -34.4C

(not that -22 is much warmer than -30 )
