  • My Theme Song for Civ 4: "We Built This City" Yours?

First, the title is just too perfect. Second, if ICS is really dead, we need a song about building cities just for nostalgia. Finally, the song is just sooo cheesy. In fact, USA today had it as the WORST song ever! Wow! Unbelieveable. See it for yourself: HERE.

Here's a clip from Amazon, if you've forgotten this awesome tune: We built this city.

And if all you need is some lyrics, see below. Anyway, what would be your song?

    Chorus:
We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll

Say you don't know me, or recognize my face
Say you don't care who goes to that kind of place
Knee deep in the hoopla, sinking in your fight
Too many runaways eating up the night

Marconi plays the bomba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll

    chorus

    Someone's always playing corporation games
Who cares they're always changing corporation names
We just want to dance here, someone stole the stage
They call us irresponsible, write us off the page

Marconi plays the bomba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll

    chorus

It's just another Sunday, in a tired old street
Police have got the choke hold, oh, [but] we just lost the beat

Who counts the money underneath the bar
Who rides the wrecking ball into our guitars
Don't tell us you need us, 'cos we're [the ship of] fools
Looking for America, crawling through your schools

(I'm looking out over that Golden Gate bridge
Out on another gorgeous sunny Saturday, I've seen that [bumper-to-bumper]traffic)

    Don't you remember (remember)

(Here's your favorite radio station, in your favorite radio city
The city by the bay, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps)

Marconi plays the bomba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll

    chorus repeats 2x

(We built, we built this city) built this city (we built, we built this city)
    (repeats out)

I played Civ1 for hours and hours on end with the original Enigma album playing in the background. Since this is Civ4, I will probably use Enigma's fourth album, Screen Behind the Mirror this time around.

I wonder if that is the song they play when you complete the Rock 'n Roll Wonder.

Same as I play for GTA, Silent Hunter, Europa Universalis etc etc etc - RAMMSTEIN
A billion citizens scurry like ants beneath the spires of the great city, their underpants as pure as the driven snow. The whole world is in the iron grip of The Bottom Inspectors.

That's a Blake quote, right? Shouldn't it be "palace of wisdom"?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
