Important Note
--------------
This is a simplified version of the "OFT - One Free Tech" scenario, which avoids usage of custom strings. This allows for easier PBEM games: Only the first player needs the scenario and CtP can be started by double-clicking saved turn files.

Disclaimer

By using this scenario pack you accept that any effect that might occur because of the scenario pack will be your responsibility and not mine. I carry no responsibility for any loss of data. Its use is on your own risk.

Thanks

Many thanks go to
- Mathemagician for the OFT idea and
- J Bytheway for the basic idea of how to implement this.

What is it?
-----------
The "One Free Tech (Simplified)" scenario pack is a scenario pack for CtP (Civilization Call to Power), version 1.2 or higher.

What is it for?
---------------
In this scenario every human player gets one free tech, which can be chosen freely from all available techs (advances). The first human player can select the turn for this to happen (1st, 2nd, 3rd or 7th turn). Optionally a period of 5, 10, 15 or 25 turns can be selected, so each player can decide individually, when she wants to get the free tech.
Additionally there are two new kinds of messages included: A warning, if a unit was bombarded and a notification for city growth. Each player can decide at the 1st turn, if she wants to receive these messages. The decision can be revised later on by hitting the "m" key, which brings back the enable/disable message.
Also there is an option to add a warrior to the first city each player builds. This can be configured by the first human player, too.

Installation
------------
Simply unzip "OneFreeTechSimplScenario.zip" to the "scenarios" folder (which is a sub-folder of the directory where you installed CtP) preserving the folder hierarchy inside the zip-file. After unzipping you should find the following in your CtP install directory:

<CtP install dir>
   "scenarios"
      "OneFreeTechSimplified" (files: "readme.txt" (this file), "packlist.txt", "packicon.tga")
         "scen0000" (files: "scenario.txt", "scenicon.tga")
            "default" (no files)
               "gamedata" (files: "oft_slic.slc", "scenario.slc")

Usage
-----
When doing the setup for a new game, hit the "Select Scenario" button in the setup screen. In the "Scenario Picker" dialog select (by clicking the image) "OFT - One Free Tech (Simplified)" and hit "OK". Repeat the procedure in the dialog that follows. Now the setup screen should show "Scenario: OFT - One Free Tech (Simplified)" right under the "Standard Game" button (which was the "Select Scenario" button before). Launch the game when you are done with the setup screen. Notice the message, that lets you choose the turn for granting the free tech. Hint: You can't finish the turn without choosing one of the options from the message.
