KINGDOMS

Aquilonia - Conan was born a barbarian in Cimmeria, but he rose to
become King of Aquilonia, one of the greatest powers of the Hyborian world. Reportedly, his son Conn went on to conquer the world.
The capital, Tarantia, produces the feared Black Legions, while frontiersmen in Veletrium have learned from the Picts to produce Wolf units. The Bossonian archers are reknowned defenders, but are not available at the beginning of the scenario.

Zingara - an advanced country with rich farmland, a respectable
navy, and a powerful Totem in the holy city of Malaca. The Zingaran nobility disdain the old rites, and prefer to fund military and secular learning. But the people have more faith in the guardian spirits of their ancestors. Thus, it is said that the road to Kordava runs through Malaca.

Argos - has the most advanced navies and diplomatic corps. While the Argocian king does not trust you, Argos may be your best slim chance at an alliance, and at decent naval technology.

Nemedia - Probably the greatest country in Hyboria, now that
Aquilonia has been weakened by endless Pictish raids
and weak kings. Belverus is the largest city of the known world,
and Numalia is not far behind. King Nimed is uncertain of you,
the new king, and would love to see you fail. He places his hopes
in improved metals, weapons, and military units. Legend says the
fabled lost city of Python lies on a lake haunted by demons and
snakes.

Zamora - mysterious dry lands to the East. The capital is Arenjun, the
City of Thieves. It hosts the Shrine to Zoth, the Zamoran
spider god. Even Zamorans avoid the ancient fortress of Yimsha, in the
Himelian mts to the south - and the People of the Black Circle,
who serve their Master there.

Stygia - "The Serpent of the South". This country of deserts, jungle
and swamps has little military or economic might. But since time began,
Stygian necromancers have plumbed the arcane secrets of the Abyss. All
men fear Stygian sorcerers. The greatest of them all, Conan's worst
enemy, is Thoth Amon. He has been seen at the Oasis of Khajar, far to
the east.

Picts - Some of these barbarians are barely human, but they are fierce fighters and can summon the aid of strange beasts of the forests.
In this scenario, the Picts are combined with an arcane race known only as the Black Ones, who inhabit an island in the southern seas.

I have taken some liberties here with the Hyborian world. Most of my (correct) information was gleaned from Vincent Darlange's web site. Some from the books. I accept all due blame for the rest - fallacies, or fancies intended to fill gaps or add flavor. - S.H.
